dev, 23 Feb 2016To the ones complaining about price: what does a Samsung or... moreIn fact, they offer way more. Samsung offers refined design, revolutionary camera tech, waterproofing, expandable storage, integration with other Samsung devices and an amazing always-on screen. LG offers brave modular design, potential expandability, dual-camera system, always-on screen. Apple offers a hugely extensive ecosystem of apps and no-surprise reliability, not counting various semi-gimmicky features like live photos, pressure-sensitive display and taptic engine. And all these companies operate globally, and not just in China.
Xiaomi has none of that. All they have are pure boring specs that everyone else also have, boring design everyone else has and no international support or availability.

It's true - it may have high end specs but no killer features, mediocre design and only 5.2" screen - it's a no go for me I'm afraid
(Quite a relief actually as there are so many choices out there right now - one of the list) Yey!

lakisetty, 23 Feb 2016As somebody said here. It is truly broing phone. I think th... moreI was a huge Xiaomi fan as well, but it seems they are just going downhill with their flagship devices. Mi3 was freaking awesome. Mi4 was pretty good. Mi5 is just...what? Seems like they failed to get why people liked their phones and just went for: "yeah, people like us! Let's just make a most generic 'flagship' phone with the same tech everyone uses today and charge premium for it".
They still offer pretty good mid-range phones, but in terms of flagship devices they have nothing to offer me.

Anonymous, 23 Feb 2016Usually a fan of Mi devices, but I can't help but feel the ... moreExactly my thoughts. People used to refer to Xiaomi as a "chinese Apple", implying quality and good design. Well, it seems they have decided to go for Apple pricing as well, but I just can't see any reason to pay over 600 bucks (resellers will put higher prices) for a mediocre device that has not killer-features whatsoever. Not gonna happen.
This just can't compete neither with G5 nor S7. It's just... meh.

To the ones complaining about price: what does a Samsung or Apple phone offer that makes their price premium acceptable? Double standard much?

Xiaomi made good phones for low prices: that's why it was appreciated in the first place. Now, after achieving international fame, they release a phone that pretty much competes with "big guys" out there in terms of pricing, without actually offering anything spectacular. Why pay 600 bucks for this when you can get an S7 for 700 - a clearly superior device with expandable storage and an awesome camera? And 16GB in 2016 is pretty much a waste of money.
What a damn shame. Xiaomi could have stolen the show, but with this pricing I don't see it happening.

It's expensive because no one will respect them unless they market their phones as premium products with premium price tags.

I paid around 80€ (around 90$) more for a Redmi Note 2, without shipping costs included.

As somebody said here. It is truly broing phone. I think this time xiaomi is gonna fall behind all the expectations and tumble down like anything else in such a way they can't even return back to normalcy. This is by a hardcore Mi fan. Today's marketing lies in surprises not hype...you should learn a lot xiaomi.

If that price tag is right they r crazy, for 600$ i buy a major brand flagship.
Crazy price for a company that basically only sales in China, the rest of the world is depending on resellers
I believe that price isn't right (if is right i wont be a client)

If this is true I'll definitely be ordering the Redmi Note 3 Pro.
Don't want the stupid resolution or the stupid price. Could almost have a big brand flagship for that price!!
Hopefully not true though...
