AnonD-442781, 24 Feb 2016Firstly, it'll probably be more expensive abroad. Secondly,... moreno specifications on waterproofness yet, the camera is excellent, the display is excellent, who cares if it is qhd, it's just a battery drainer. build quality is also excellent, phone looks very nice. half the price of an s7, why do you complain?

After looking at other reliable sources I learnt some interesting things.

Firstly, global launch hasn't even been confirmed because of IP laws. They wouldn't be able to launch it in the west because of them, without having certain licenses. This would up the price if there ever is a global launch.

Secondly, if they do launch it, they would need to advertise in order to sell. Again, this would raise the price for western consumers.

If it does ever launch, expect it to be much more expensive. You'll have to import it from China yourself if you want the phone, but you may not get 4G.

            yupman, 24 Feb 2016Xiaomi mi5 ---> thug life S7 699$ 4gb ram 32g rom Mi5... moreFirstly, it'll probably be more expensive abroad. Secondly, it's missing a lot of features.
            Waterproof, micro SD
            Better camera
            Better display
            Better build quality, software

Overall xiaomi gives you a lot more bang for your buck, but you can't ignore that the s7 is just better in every single regard, apart from price.

I use mi4i. Xiaomi's hardware spec and built is always excellent, but the UI is crap like ios.

It looks like a Sony copy and also like a much cheaper one. Chinese copy paste. :)

I am afraid about their after sales service. They are very bad here in India.

AnonD-442781, 24 Feb 2016Yeah I've always wondered a out quality and stability. Many... moreI'm typing from a UMI eMaxx phone using SwiftKey. I was also scared of the Chinese phones and also other brands of mobile other than recognisable names such as Samsung, I think this was due to reading about some of the horiginal things that have happened to people who have brought unknown brands before, but I believe alot of these people have brought from the lowest end of the asians phone manufacturer market.

I think we are witnessing a genuine attempt by other phone brand manufacturers in Asia to produce high end hardware, and I think the shockingly low prices of the phones are due to most of the components being made very close to the manufacturers. We already know from tear down tests of some Samsung and Apple products what the real cost of name brand phones are, so it shouldn't be a surprise how high end specifications can be met for such low prices on other brand Asian phone manufacturers phones.

This UMI eMAXX phone that I'm typing from is actually the most stable Android I've ever used, especially considering it has nearly all of the apps I had installed on my Note 3 which used to crash close apps quite a bit. In fact this phone was an impulse buy after Browsing Amazon and seeing this phone priced at £109 I clicked next day delivery and was fully prepared to see details it back to Amazon for a refund due to it being fulfilled by Amazon, but to my surprise every time I clicked to Re-download apps I had already purchased years ago from the Google Play store the apps kept working, I realised that this was in fact a few urine Android device not a funky pirate, just a modified one.

I was also amazed at the device being pre-rooted, the ultimate convenience especially as I wasn't sure how to root this device had it not been rooted. I was free to download TitaniumBackup and start reinstalling backups, which all worked fine, but this time I didn't have to change the hardware ID on first installing a backup.

All of this experience has given me an impression of a more refined programming by the mod, or maybe Android has really advanced that much sinceiI last had a Jelly Bean device.

I am fully convinced by the new incomers in the Asian phone brand market and I am looking forward to purchasing the XPlay 5, at probably half the price of the name brand equivalent. It looks like an Art Deco masterpiece too, and just like the UMI eMaxx that I'm holding, hardly anybody around you will have it or know about it, I like that very much.

I have a similar view, but I won't generalize like all chinese phones are crap. I tried one (Meizu M1 note) based on specs AND gsmarena review. It just did not work out well for me (poor camera, missed calls due to low ringing volume, frequent contacts app freeze which required restart of the phone etc). It would take a long long time before I try another one from mainstream chinese OEMs (Huawei, Xiaomi, Gionee, Vivo, Letv etc). Meizu - I won't. The only chinese OEM phone that I would go with is - Lenovo, that too only Moto branded phones with near stock android, not those custom half-baked skins which try to mimic IOS.
