Verizon outs Android 5.1.1 update for the Sony Xperia Z3v and the Z2 Tablet

I'm sorry most all of you hated your phone's update.
Admittedly, the original update was a bummer for me too. It not only did not take affect but it also messed things up with my phone as well. But then I did a factory reset and that made all the difference. I ended up having a MUCH IMPROVED phone with added perks and benefits, such as an even more amazing camera with vastly improved and added features that more than rival the seriously high-end features & bonuses of the professional photographers & movie makers.
I hope you all still have your phones. Mine is now 6 years old and still going strong, and it easily rivals new phones on the market today. And adding a Bluetooth Keyboard & Mouse opens up a world of new possibilities & ventures because they turn it into an expanded luxury computer with even more perks & bonuses. And they seriously enhance texting, search and communication of all abilities.
Would I like a new phone? Yes, very much so. But mostly because I want one with a much larger screen, a stow-in pen & the pleasure of an attached physical keyboard. (I'm not a great texter. Some folks can't text at all. But a physical keyboard easily helps with that, especially if you don't like to "talk or peck" your text.
Most folks use their phones as computers anyway. Some only have a phone to use, period, because they don't have computers or tablets. - A Tablet-Phone would be great, especially when it's a sizeable 8-10inches. But it would still need to have a physical keyboard & mouse for my personal use in order for me to truly maximize its potentials. But it's not really practical when it comes to toting it. It'd be fine for women because they can just put it in their purse. But a guy can't fit it in their pocket. On the flip side of that, it's also not practical to carry a separate keyboard & mouse either. Even so, they really do make things sooo much easier and waaay better, enabling a far superior user experience.
Do I really need one? No. But it still would be nice. Till then, it would be just as nice for Sony to do an other update on the Sony Xperia Z3v phone to bring its OS to the current standards of whatever the newest, best & most secure OS's available. Beyond that, I still very much appreciate having & using my Sony Xperia Z3v.
As for this comment I'm about to post here on this forum ... I only just discovered it while doing a search to see if there might be a new update for my phone. I had no idea there were so many complaints regarding it. Whatever issues I encountered from the original update were EASILY RESOLVED with a factory reset that just happened to also include some really nice bonuses - speed of use & the camera features & expanded abilities being but two of them. There are others as well. But it's been so long since the last update I can't remember what they are. I don't use all the features on my phone. I use bare bone basics to keep it protected as much as possible. I also have no use for forced items like football, movies, social dating apps, news & entertainment apps or console games. Most all apps should be personally installed, not factory forced. - Office apps, phone, camera, Kindle. These are fine factory apps, even email since most folks do email on their phones as well. Everything else should be personally decided on & installed by the individual. Also, when you're forced to have only a one-way access to whatever you app or venue you want via FB or Gmail, then there's a serious Big Brother security issue. When you get locked out of Direct Access & your only access then becomes forced via FB, Gmail or App, that's when you have to protect yourself & your personal electronics because that means someone else is in charge of your personal directory and who knows what all else. And that's just plain wrong. It might be simple to have a one blanket-all access. But that should be by personal choice and personal choice alone. When it's not, then there's a serious issue. Hence the serious limitation of my personal use of my phone. But I am still able to do so much more with it with the simple addition of a Bluetooth Keyboard & Mouse. They really do make for a wonderful world of endless possibilities & profoundly awesome user experience.

Anonymous, 18 May 2016Me too...because mine wouldn't update on its ownI also had to do a factory reset for the update to take affect. I had to do it a couple of times though. That said, my phone ended up working & functioning better than when new. I even ended up receiving new features that are on current new phones, including a far superior camera with enhanced and added extra features that rival seriously high-end cameras professional photographers use.

I just got the 5.1.1 update last night - This morning bluetooth in one of my cars worked fine. I'll run through the other devices later.

This got pushed and installed without my OK - made my phone useless for 45 minutes as it optimized the apps.
Then, through the evening, it rebooted 18 times (10 PM to 6AM).
It would lock up and reboot about 10 minutes after starting up.
The reason? Seems to be the Facebook app. I un-installed it the phone was stable, re-installed it and it continues to be stable.
Thanks for the warning Verizon!!!
Just like their last push which required a factory reset to clear out some of the app baggage.

Agree totally - the update sucks. I hate this version of Android and it turned my phone into a POS!!

Loaded latest update. Since then, small amounts of data is being used daily even thou data is off. I checked & deleted all running apps and problem still continues. Any answers? Problem occurred after software update.

After the update, my bluetooth doesn't function properly. It seems like the music "skips" every 4 to 5 seconds. It's extremely annoying. Anyone else have this issue?
