I've use... moreI have a hero and a Samsung omnia hd if I could have the android OS with the Samsung screen I would love it, I will buy the galaxy s which is what I want and a 1ghz A8 so super fast. Symbian is too old now and the apps are lame just put a custom Rom on your hero and be done with it.

Anonymous, 28 May 2010what about HTC Hero , not even 2.1 :(@Hero users. If you root your phone the sky is the limit. There are a number of brilliant 2.1 ROMs (like SenseHero for example) out there now, and a few of these developers are already working on Froyo for the Hero :-))))

Sandi, 29 May 2010This is the beginning of the Andriod failure, with HTC as t... moremind you... this is a common problem with not only HTC but alot of manufacturers including Nokia and SE. Nokia tend to get lazy fixing firmware bugs after the phone is 6 months old. SE have said to expect 2.1 in Q4... thats alot sooner than HTC's 2H 2010 - although they shouldnt have said "1H 2010" in the first place and hinted continuously that users would get it by March.. then April.. then May.. and now June...

HTC Magic has insufficient ROM? It comes with 512 MB of ROM, if I'm right. Same as the HTC Desire. Does this mean the Desire isn't getting a Froyo update either? Oh man... now I'm gonna have to look for another phone :(

so, which version need higher CPU?
I think 2.1 is.
so logically, if your phone can run 2.1 it should be able to 2.2, shouldn't it?
that why I'm dissapointed with Hero and HTC in a first place.

Froyo is developed based on Nexus one. If yr spec don't look similar to Nexus one, forget about 2.2
Maybe 2.1 is possible.
They also have to consider the performances even if the ROM fit.
I mean why update to the latest if it will slow down the performances due to hardware issue

Yo, Android u'r Amazing!!
Now all u need is "Live Service" (sorta like PS Home on paystation 3), "Gaming Service" (where u can join games, get trophies, invite online), and "Media Service" (aka DivX HD, and mkv support (A MUST)for torrented movies with video on demand to watch on superamoled,....

Things are even worse in the other side of the field. Look at Nokia or Apple, for example. Motorola? They don't even allow 3rd parties to do their job... and I have a Milestone (but I like it anyway).
But I agree... they should upgrade at least the Hero to 2.2, since it's possible.
Besides, Android is going to slow down...

I bought a HTC Hero few days back considering its advantage of upgrade when ever it available. I am satisfied with phone. But now what I see? I see that HTC providing update only to those sets which come to market in 2010. This is not fair. We r not buying sets by spending quite a good amount of money for using them only for one year (if I buy in the middle of the year or end of the year then it will be a few months) . Now I think HTC should think about providing update for their all Android phones at least expensive ones so that we can use our HTC phones smoothly.

I have a question for GSM Arena admin, where did they get the news from HTC that Magic and G1 will not get 2.2 froyo? can you show me the link please Mr?

This is the beginning of the Andriod failure, with HTC as the worst abuser of all. If software upgrade continues to be a problem for andriod users, they will shift to other phone with better longevity and upgradability.
