Nokia N8 first official video demo comes out, not bad at all

28 May, 2010
Nokia has obviously put a lot of eggs in the N8 basket and is keen to convince us that it's a phone worth having. Nokia has just released the first of a trilogy of videos that demonstrate the new Symbian^3 user interface...

I'm a 5800 user for one year, maybe will buy this phone after it drops in price. I wish Nokia had bought Palm to get a market-ready, multi-tasking, touch-based O/S (Palm O/S) that could be used for either smart phone or pad. Too bad because HP bought Palm and will be quick to market. I just don't see a clear O/S strategy from the patchwork of Symbian, Maemo, and Meego, can anyone explain?

It's been a while since an apple article has gathered over 260 comments - just proof that people are losing interest and iPhone is losing popularity.

How couldn't they when 4G is an outdated nokia ripoff?

[deleted post]Yea.. being the first doesn't mean it is the best.
But it is still the pioneer around.
And smart developers will study it and "copy" it.

Success or being the best cannot be determine by just a short one or two years of fame.

Lets see how it goes after 5 years.

Some people are here to just bash the nokia n8 and claim it will fail in the market without any knowledge in how the smartphone goes. The nokia 5800 was slow and had a total mess in terms of the ui but up to now it has sold over 8 million units and with proper support nokia has updated the firmware of the nokia 5800 and fixed some of the little problems it had. The majority of people are looking for smartphones with nice features at the lowest possible price. By the look of things if nokia n8's price range doesn't rise too much when it hits the stores many people would go for this device since it has great features and at a reasonable price. Not everyone can afford devices like samsung galaxy (1000$+) only a small part of the market can buy such expensive devices. The n8 will not fail like how the n97 did.

I believe SE Vivaz sells is quite good rite?

[deleted post]"people are posting dumb comments using their dumb machines"
That might be your opinion but these days, a persons mobile phone is much more than just a machine.
Most people treat their phone like a friend and companion and are very proud to it. This is the reason for such comment battles like this.
If are a person who does not feel this way, please stay off the forum.

well this is touch screen phone, so choosing icon is much better than choosing from list. I bet you will not count as a fault if Android also have the same thing.. Get a life dude.

[deleted post]It is true that Nokia did not make the first mobile phone. However, you cannot deny that it was Nokia phones that brought Mobile phones to the masses all over the world.

Ask anyone who got their fist phone about 15 years ago when mobile phones were coming to the market. They will tell you that it was a Nokia.

I want Xenon flash, bluetooth 3.0, hd recording, fm transmitter, loud speaker, simple and easy ui, fast Edge, secondry camera and USB OTG. Tell me why I will go for another device if Nokia is giving all this on one device. Just for 1ghz processor and high res screen..? Well I can live with 680 mhz cpu and mind it N8 also have a Gpu.. Still N8 speed is not so bad or you die without 1ghz cpu.. "Android has lot of applications then Symbian".. Oh yeah then tell me some good applications and games on Android.. Only the thing N8 missed is the high res screen.. Now you say symbian have old lame ui- therefor we also have SPB mobile shell for it. Well personally I dont use it because I need simple ui of N8 not confusing of Android..
Mr. Tom Hedge tell me why I choose Android over Symbian. Because you hate Nokia..?

If Symbian OS looks like something made in 2002 than the Iphone OS looks like something Nokia did in 2004.
