Nokia N8 first official video demo comes out, not bad at all

28 May, 2010
Nokia has obviously put a lot of eggs in the N8 basket and is keen to convince us that it's a phone worth having. Nokia has just released the first of a trilogy of videos that demonstrate the new Symbian^3 user interface...

3rd party apps will be developed in Qt. Developers need to get their butts in gear for Symbian to have good apps once N8 is released.

As far as hardware is concerned, it is about preference. Dell Streak is too big in my opinion. X10 is too expensive and don't have 16GB of onboard storage.

my silver lining finish on the n97 wore off in less than two month and not only me,my all folks owning n97 have been complaining about that.they always make a coating, its never metal, except for the e series.the same happened with my n82's camera's brushed silver finishing.

i can bet that anodized finishing will wear off in less than three months.take my word on that.as far as build quality is concerned go for apple.
common guys android is way better than symbian, nokia is lagging accept it or not.i too prefer nokia but the way they disappointed me with n97 i am lesser on their side.dell streak is a much better buy also as the screen is large typing will be easier.i gree the multimdia performance of n8 will be mind blowing but as far as hardware is concerned go for xperia 10 or dell streak.android has been full proof so far.it came and its ruling.common nokia, all eyes on your symbian^3.you dont have that impressive hardware for n8 so we are hoping it from the os part.

I think this is obvious that symbian is a dead plateform... Its slow, ugly, unintuitive, not meant for touch, ugly, and did I mention ugly!

Take a look at what the n900 can do with a 600 MHZ cpu ... Now this has 680 and is sooooooo slow...

Android and iPhone OS are crushing symbian. If nokia wants to survive, they need to stop making symbian phones...

Impressive, if the price of this phone doesn't fluctuate a lot when it hits the stores the it could potentially be the best buy of the year 2010 even though it doesn't have a monster snapdragon processor it still does a lot of things in a decent speed (to its defence its a video of the phone au a beta stage there is still room for improvement ). Also nokia has opted for a nice design and abandoned the cheap plastic design that most of its touch screen devices had and instead used anodised aluminium which i hear makes the phone very light weighted. This phone looks to offer what a modern touch screen phone should have interms of ui and its leading in the cameraphone department. This could well be a legend in the making (like n95) only time will tell.

Actually Super Amoled on Galaxy S is great but for me touch wiz sucks.. Galaxy S would be far better if Samsung used some other ui on it.

Much better looking that I expected, looks better than the earlier previews as well. Galaxy S still looks way better, but this phone is a little more compact (not as wide) and has a way better camera and overal features. Can't wait until I see a proper review and compare the two myself!

guys guys, havent you got nokia yet.their strategy,if not check this out.
flat strategy for buying nokia(my experience of >9 yrs).
1.wait for the device to hit the market, control your temptness.
2.read user's opinions and reviews,as its their new os once again, dont take chance, nokia is bound to miss something at first stage.
3.then it will rectify it and launch the product with other name like "mini" or something similar at a very lower price.
4.in less than half a year, the price of the device will fall so steeply that you might repent buying it as an early bird.
                              and last but most important
5.always remember that when nokia is launching a device,it always has its successor ready under its hood.
so the key word is just wait and you might end up lucky and having the best buy..
                              so folks do you agree?
and ya forget not to mention that nokia always blinds us with flashy videos,so dont believe their commercials until you experience it for yourself.
i personally use a n97,its a great fone but the touch experience is not so great but as i ve customised it to my needs..it works perfect for me.

The N8 gets almost the same speeds using a 680MHz Processor.
The Galaxy S also costs about twice as much as the n8.

Guys, still remember that it is beta, so even if he could smoothly multitask, it was still slow because it's nearly finished. Once we see final version, then our judgement will be right. =]

Lets hope that the final OS won't be this laggy. Sensitivity seems nice. But again the question comes up: Isn't this too little too late?
