Nokia N8 first official video demo comes out, not bad at all

28 May, 2010
Nokia has obviously put a lot of eggs in the N8 basket and is keen to convince us that it's a phone worth having. Nokia has just released the first of a trilogy of videos that demonstrate the new Symbian^3 user interface...

David, 28 May 2010I think people forget that this in not a Nokia flagship pho... moreThe pixel count is irrelevant, the only time pixels count is if you're going to produce large prints, that's A3/A2 or greater, even then unless the sensor & lens is of sufficient quality, the picture will be poor with chromatic aberrations and all sorts of problems.

HDMI, pretty worthless, it's for connecting to a HDTV, who's going to carry one of them around? lol! 720p isn't HD, you need to go upto 1080p for that.

Connectivity is network dependent, so therefore irrelevant.

na looks cack. sorry but a fail......I sell phones for a living and I know this phone will cause nothing but problems just like all the other recent Nokia high end phones. ok so 12mp camera, great......but thats gonna be it. It looked glitchy and he was only using it slowly. Im gonna have to push Android or Win mobile 7 me thinks.

I think people forget that this in not a Nokia flagship phone, it's in the multimedia segment, it costs half of what other barands unlocked phones cost and it still delivers the best 12MP camera, HDMI, fastest connectivity and dataspeed on the planet in class 33, while other brands flagship like Samsung Galaxy etc etc still is stuck in slow motion class 12. Like i said before, it cost half the but delivers double the specs.

Even since people started using Mobiles in large scale.
Even as of now, It completely own the mobile market with 37% World wide.
Symbian also owns the smartphone market with about 35% shares.

Symbian processing should be faster or Nokia always be in second place....

Well done for being the first to mention the iphone in comments for a NOKIA product. Nokia fanbois once again lash out assuming someone is an iphone owner. It's a sign of the times.

Oh, and threaded messaging? WOW. I've never seen that innovation before.

i personally never preferred SE or samsung.for me it has to be either nokia or htc or apple.and so far the built quality of apple, performance of nokia and Hardware of htc is the best what i have experienced.i hope someday will come, when we will have all the three from one manufacturer.and ya if u havent checked out android 2.2 froyo yet.go for it.god, its damn fast.
Google is marking its presence slowly but steadily.htc have almost discarded win mobile. :)
cheers to google.cant wait for the day, they launch chrome os.i ll throw of the crappy ms win 7.

Sorry Nokia fans, but it's file handling routines were seen to be slow, the part where he asks it to take a picture file & make it a wallpaper, so slow...

I can't wait to see how well it performs when the memory & memory card is nearly full. You better get a book ready. I think its file handling routines & subroutines need rewriting already.

I for one will not be considering this phone.

Things come and things go but some things choose to stay and nokia n97 is one of those things.no matter what the tech specs chart speak today, they are just add ons to what n97 already offers.nothing can beat it.its complete and perfect.
whats the use of such a huge screen and huge memory if you cant watch a complete movie on it.m speaking of dell streak aNd nokia n8.how can they forget to include a kickstand, what a miss! so no matter how much you love your phone you wont be able to hold it longer than 15 mins to watch a video, forget about watching movies.surfing web on my n97 is a sheer pleasure and the experience has been like no other.you can type email on it faster than any qwerty device in the market, thanks to its tilt and slide screen and physical qwerty keyboard.nobody can match apple's capacitive touch screen typing capability.so if its not apple,a physical qwerty keyboard is a must.
with nice software upgrades,my n97 has got even better, more free ram and snappier performance.the audio quality with correct equalizer settings will definitely bewilder you.give it a try.
and am happy that its no more into production because such beautiful things need to be rare.n97 still befits the Kings' throne,N8 is just a flagship..or you can say a prototype for testing their new OS sym^3.

Well now, I'm always fair and unbiased - but I do have to say that the UI hasn't improved much since the N93i, and similar to other people's comments... It's VERY UGLY AND UNINTUITIVE...

And that's the key - I think it suits people who are less "geeky" and more interested in camera over performance and customisability...

For me it's a big no-no, but I would have no hesitation recommending this to people who don't want to be bombarded with tech, and want a good looking, fair performing phone, with an excellent camera - and that's exactly what it is. A medium-class phone with an excellent camera - and as I've said before it competes with Vivaz and Satio and not with Desire and Galaxy S....

hey and what if itmeets the fate of sym 5 as in n97,mini and other devices.if it fails nokia will just go for developing a new platform and its we who will be left over with limited apps.tell me if n97 will be offered the update of sym 3.the answer is no,a big NO.but see, google has been offering android updates over 1.6 to 2.1 eclair to 2.2 froyo.so we dont get to taste the new ui cause of lack of hw support.is that it?also with that gui hw dont forget ,n8 has only 256mb ram,so it wont render that smoothness, when multiple apps are open.m xperiencin it dude..my n97 has 128 mb ram,but only 40-45 mb ram is left for usage when it boots.so lets hope 256mb on n8 offers atleast half the ram for usage.
