Nokia N8 uses USB OTG, browses files off a USB drive and Nokia C5

31 May, 2010
USB On-The-Go is a relatively unknown feature on mobile phones despite its obvious advantages. Watch how some lucky dude connects a USB flash drive and a Nokia C5 to the N8 and plays a few tracks...

[deleted post]Well, I know I said something to this guy too but if you think about his opinion you will realize or noticed he said it perhaps because of an additional cable. He is not going against this feature but the way it is executed. Afterall we all make faces to see another set of cable to carry.

So let's say first step is good, with hope that something better will follow so we wouldn't need to carry an extra cable and put usb directly into it.

A welcomed feature, i saw an similar ideas at ideas.symbian.org

it is a site that deliver what the symbian users want, well done.

About the s3 ui, there is a widget catalog suggestion at symbianuibrainstorm.wordpress.com and symbian foundation deliver it, nokia and symbian seems care more about what users need now

of course there are many ideas have been delivered. if you have good ideas , do send them suggestion.

If Apple will include this to their iPhone "5G" then people will consider it the most fascinating inventions?

The first portable device I connect my usb to was Kingston's media player, pretty cool and sexy little thing that was with this feature and I simply loved it and ever since I wanted to have something like this on the mobile phone. Although I wanted Sony Ericsson to do something like this but its cool. Nice to see it with Nokia.

BTW, it is not a pointless feature, maybe not for you but you do not represent entire world. Perhaps few bunch of people like yourself but there there is a group who would want it BADLY. So appreciate it even if it is small step toward something useful.

pointless feature. Who is actually going to carry the adaptor around everywhere with them on the off chance they aren't near a computer and there mate says "hey I got a video I want to show you on my USB." It's neat, but no need for it and unpractical. If there was a USB port on the side of the phone then it would be more practical, but even then I don't think people would use it often enough to justify another input to make the unit larger.
