LOL, you guys are hilarious. Obviously none of you work at Qualcomm or are keen enough industry watchers. Tell me which processor takes more power the Core Solo or the Core 2 Duo? Thats a just simple case for you simple folk, btw. Clock for clock, the new Snapdragon most likely takes less power than the one currently soldered on to so many of our beloved smartphones right now. Thats how processor technology evolution works, faster, smaller, more power efficient silicon is pumped out generation after generation (except in the case of nVidia, where they apparently think power is free). You should all be clamoring for more of this stuff!

Apple Iphone dont have 1.2x2 GHZ processor but still very smooth to operate , 1.2 dual-core processor is nice but OS should also be fully optimized to also in order to see the full potential og 1.2 dual-core processor, and also please2x how about shipping a more higher capacity batteries , lets say 1500mah(X2)hehehehe , the more capacity the better!

The competition is heading towards a wrong direction. Such an overclocked processor will drain battery even less than one day or will have to accumulate a larger battery that will make the phone larger and heavier.

We want a phone with longer standby time perhaps lasts for one week will be appreciated and helpfull. Companies should emphasice more on increasing the batter lifetime, I think so.

The developers should build OS as such that utilizes the processor speed upto full extent.

There's no need of such overclocked processors, rather try to develop smaller batterys and longer lifetime and the OS.

stab116, 01 Jun 2010mobile phone manufacturers shouldn't concentrate on putting... moreQualcomm is not responsible for the phone OS, neither are Motorola,Samsung,SE or any other phone manufacturer.

OS optimizing can only be achieve by the OS developers respectively. In order for them to do that, things like these are the determinents for thier capability.

You cant expect Android to create some futuristic OS if the technology is left behind.

These companies are going silly. They should bring new technology in batteries and make more mAh batteries. In normal condition there are not much difference between 1ghz and 1.3 ghz but it will drain the battery more fast. Android phones are still struggling for battery life and this will even more kill the battery and also make the phone more costly. These are just stupid thing.

WHAT MATTERS IS THE OS SPEED AND BATTERY LIFE.
If android froyo is up to 5 times faster and smoother than 2.1, with current snapdragon, i'll be happy with sticking with that hardware thank you.
No need for this for now, except if you are after some serious gaming and multitasking on your phone - while charging it at the same time. Lol

This never ends. 1GhZ considered good today out of date tomorrow. It's what manufacturers call built in obsolesence, it guarantees that you go and buy more and more. Batteries are not keeping up further showing the lack of utility of faster and faster processors. Still suppliers are happy to ake your money if you want to give them yet more profit. Phone will work 1 second quicker, and what are you going to do with that extra slice of life....think about it.

mobile phone manufacturers shouldn't concentrate on putting a faster cpu and a bigger battery on a phone, they should concentrate on optimizing the os.

amazing news! i am glad i didn't buy the desire, overlooked the ipad and kept my hero, coz this dual-core babe will be the real jump in mobile technology where u can work on a high-resolution screen with seemless speed and play some apps and games u'd never dream u'dd use on a mobile! and i am sure as well that these high-end device's prices won't go above the current 500-600 euros threshold, but this time with a real laptop-like experience!

It doesnt matter how many Ghz your phone's processor has. The more importand thing is how fluent OS works.
Maybe Nokia doesnt need 1.2Ghz processor to run symbian and apps without a problem.
