One of the reasons samsung does better is because its sensor is 1/20th the size the canon 70d. This means 70d has a way higher depth of field and hence it's harder for it to focus. It still does pretty well compared to other bigger sensor cameras.
As for low light image quality. If you put on a f1.8 lens on the 70d you;ll get way brighter video. So yea, the comparison in low light is completely pointless.

ICE, 08 Mar 2016I dont care that you use a full frame slr, neither do I car... moreThat's nice that you like your DSLR, but still can't you accept, that from a technical perspective, the smartphone has the way more advanced sensor with the higher ISO performance and that's why it can come close to DSLR quality in some scenarios? A nice landscape shot, you definitely don't need a DSLR for that. Sometimes even lower light when modern software merges pictures to keep the picture sharp and the ISO low. That's awesome stuff and modern smartphones can get a lot out of that tiny sensor. For sure not as much as a DSLR with the right setting and senses can deliver, I know that quite well but fur jsut running around and taking pictures in automatic mode, you don't need a DSLR, the phone will do just fine and sometimes even better ;)

Senseless comparison, might even be paid...comparing a smartphone sensor to a much larger sensor DSLR, with different characteristics most important depth of field is pointless.
Wouldn't be surprised if Samsung isn't quietly funding these supposed 'comparisons', and the fact that a reputed site like GSM Arena is acknowledging such useless articles bodes bad.

I want to shoot whatever iso/f-stop/shutter speed I feel necessary depending on the scene, slr is better at all levels. There are so many things wrong with this comparison, it's pathetic.

In a Smartphone with its crap sensor with fixed aperture and crap glass, AF is the least important problem.

firstly, I use Samsung so nothing against them. the phone's autofocus may be faster and may have a better quality, but wait until you print it. the phone was compared to the 70D as if it's a point and shoot camera. people, that's a DSLR, not a point and shoot camera. pair it with a lens with a larger aperture, let's say f1.8, and you'll see what you're looking for. how about fast moving objects, can your phone's shutter capture an image at 4000 times faster of a second? how about at a shutter speed of 30 seconds for low-light landscape/portrait photography? if you are not aware what really DSLRs are capable of, even the cheap ones, then you better not compare a DSLR with a phone like the latter can really replace it, okay?

Because yes you are right, no smartphone yet is on a DSLR ISO 100 level yet. The thing that you probably didn't know is, ISO is there to make a easy comparison between cameras with different sensor sizes. ISO makes different sensor sizes comparable with being not the same. To get the ISO equivalent you have to multiple it with the square of the crop factor. That saying, ISO 100 on a galaxy s7 equals ISO 3600 on a full frame DSLR - but guess what, ISO 100 on a galaxy is less noisie than the dslr on 3600. That means the ISO performance is actually better in the small phone sensor.

I have not seen a single smartphone camera sample that is as clean and sharp as photos from my 8 year old slr, a 12mp canon 450d, at iso 100, never mind higher iso. Smartphone photos are either grainy (noisy) or look like oil paintings (noise reduction) at iso 100, go to higher iso and well, things become truly dreadful.
