AnonD-7834, 07 Mar 2016I'm failing to get your point. are you trying to suggest th... morepoint is, people buy what they see and hear. word of mouth. advertisement is really one of the mediums who give out good returns for sales. and that's the case for Samsung. theyre everywhere. and people see them/hear about them always. so people would always look at Samsung phones first, without knowing that theres actually something better (if there is, at that certain price range) from other brands like HTC for example (who doesn't do advertisements that much like Samsung)

    me thinks that's the reader's point :)

If you were right then the iPhone would be a massive sales flop. And we all know that's not the case. The masses want a phone that's as good as or better than the iPhone in terms of ease of use, camera, speed and battery life. Everything else is superfluous to most people.

after HTC One X, HTC failed to impressed me and all... They itroduced the succesor of a thing I mention - the HTC One M7 which is the most horrible flagship ever on its time! No card slot, large bezels, a slightly copy of iphone form factor, that humpy back and most of all, the utra-sh!t hilarious 4MP camera? hahahhaha... no wonder why it goes flop! they never learn and keep it again and again continuously... so no surprised at all... :D

Where is the HTC Butterfly 3 ???? Only in Japan !!!!

              HOW STUPID is that ???

HTC A9, HTC X9 has lower specifications than HTC Butterfly 3 !!!

              WHY ???

because htc is just plain stupid. that's it !

The price, camera, battery ,service centre, thickness, and built quality is the problem about htc.atleast they should improve camera, battery and service centre.if they don't that will be just like Sony, poor and almost bankrupt.Sony should sell their TV factory and radio for survive two more years atleast.

Anonymous, 07 Mar 2016A lot of these comments are spot on. In short, HTC simp... moreno, its not about camera quality. The main issue is about the whole performance. Phone would sell like hot cookies if it had decent camera, probably top phone in benchmarks and finally no overheat plus SD card slot, some other features and offer it at 500 euros and it would bring company back.

Good design, FHD screen, rootable/custom rommable, sd820, 'good' camera (not the best), SD card slot, 4gb ram and for 400-500 euros would just be a come back. HTC would be back in life. And nothing probably could be better than this set. Other wise rip. 500 euros for that phone would be extremely crazy cheap. Most important thing custom ROM support (no hardly unlockable bootloaders) And GG

AnonD-509687, 07 Mar 2016You're aware they need to make a profit, correct? You cant ... moreAre you aware that they are continuously at lost with their current pricing. If they can't sell their $650+ phones despite $400+ profit margin per phone on the paper they will continue to be at lost.

Forget Chinese brand, even their fellow Taiwanese brand Asus was making money with their cheap Zenfone series while HTC at lost.

What he is suggested is only way out for HTC hence they don't have any edge against larger brands at same price range.

Chinese brands similar to Xiaomi have few tricks to make their handsets with great value for price. It isn't magic. HTC doesn't need to reinvent the wheel.

HTC M7 was better than any phone released by any other manufacturer back in 2011.

HTC M9+ is way better the any Samsung S5 or even Some S6 ones , depending on the region.

Build quality is amazing for HTC, its problem is the fact that they are not that well advertised. And kind of expensive. That and the Apple sheep factor.

They failed to read the market conditions and will continue to do so until they burn all their cash. Pricing strategy need a complete overhaul and their customer service is far from desired. Lastly they have to provide software support for at least 15 momths including mid rangers.

There is not a significant model except M9 in market, I think Htc has to merges with Sony to form a Giant. Sammy has stolen the show, and Htc should work like Chinese their half brothers. Soc 820 full specs steel body and still 300-450 $ price. Even when 5 trillion $ wiped out of Chinese economy. All loss to entrepreneurs is compensated by government.

Slowly HTC will die followed by Sony and others who dont unerstand the market.

Other companies such as Huawei (which is being sold in europe) and Xiaomi are becoming very popular, very fast!

Give it a few years and Huawei will take over Samsung

Most of the people know this result since last year except HTC. HTC has tried very hard to turn consumer from Dislike to Like while other companies like Samsung, Huawei and Xiaomi try to follow consumers' mind. Sony follows the same effort and will trace HTC.

A lot of these comments are spot on.

In short, HTC simply doesn't understand the market. On multiple levels. Everything from pricing to customer service, to actually listening to what customers want (ex. good camera) to ineffective marketing campaigns (Robert Downey, Gary Oldman, etc).

A lot of other smartphone manufacturers fail on some of these levels. And they get away with it. Why you ask? Because their comparable phones cost half of what you'd pay for an HTC. Customers are more forgiving when that happens.

If you're gonna charge top dollar, what you're selling needs to BE top dollar. Surveys and focus groups are your friend HTC. Good luck to you.
