Sony Ericsson working on a 5-inch QWERTY-packing Android tablet?

#1, why didn't you try the HTC x7500? I was once upon a time a Psion user, I've found the 7500 to be the best successor to that old -perfect- mini-pc. I'm still using the 7500 because of its unparalleled usability, while it's aging, right now, with the new android phones out there...
I'd really like the sony android, like the new Acer 7-inch Android tablet with QWERTY keyboard...

Wow, if it is as good as it appears, this is the perfect replacement for my ageing collection of Psion 5mx and Ericsson MC218s. About time someone managed to come close to matching these old timers. And after I'd just bought a PsiXpda too... but I'm impressed with that so far, too, just not quite the form factor I wanted.

I agree that the andriod system is a mess! It's like we are rats and google keep experimenting on us. Please people don't get me wrong, andriod is an amazing os indeed but it still lacks many important features that symbian and wm already had from ages. Don't you agree?
And the way google is pushing it and upgrading their os just made a mess! Look at the smartphones and how they have gone crazy running after every os that google releases. What made it even worse is that people are being like sheeps and all they care about is the latest os from google?!!
They forgot about the hardware the features the ui and customizations from the brand they desire and it's only give us the latest os from google! Give them a break will ya.
What really makes me sad is to see most people running after anything new like sheeps without even using their brains to think or realize what's really going on, this is exactly what happened with the isheep and now it's happening again with google. Please think ! That's the reason god created for us a brain.

This is the Niche market, everyone said the iPad was in a niche market well this is between a phone and a tablet. Waste of time, doesn't have the screen size you'd want for a internet tablet, yet is WAY too big to use as a phone. This is quite simply why Apple dominates so much even with people hating their products, because they make things for the end user that are practical and most of us appreciate that. I'll be interested when google makes a tablet, maybe they will have a bit more sense... Not that I'd buy an iPad as it's price makes it purely for fanboys at current and no front camera, they're having a laugh, it's such an obvious feature on a portable net device. Nope the tablet market isn't right yet, but I'm hoping someone will get it right soon cause I am dead keen on the concept.

I would buy this phone!! I currently have a N900 and even though I love the hardware I'm not that found of the OS. This SE seems to be a match made in heaven! :)

I don't think it's odd that companies have suddenly jumped the "ipad" bandwagon and started to take pad devices "seriously". Honestly, most people in general (so people that aren't mobile/tech enthusiasts/geeks)only know about the iphone, ipod, ipad etc which is very obvious if you look and ask around. Apple devices have great hype and huge media coverage, you don't see other brands get this kind of publicity when releasing products. I mean ipad is so popular that some restaurants are using ipads in place of normal menus...
So other mobile companies are now going to utilise the hype and start pushing their own devices to the general public. I for one, am excited to see what other companies come up with and can't wait to try em out!

All these tablets are just released with an attempt of gettin ipad's success

I don't know how it is possible but if it is, then it is the coolest thing ever considering it has larger screen with keyboard including phone capabilities yet resonable size.

Today was leaked the new Android-based device from Sony Ericsson which has codename Shakira. Shakira is from Xperia series. Supposely it can get model name X10 mid or something like that, because it has bigger screen and size than X10 mini, but smaller screen and size than original X10. Yet there is no much information about this device. Launch date of Shakira will be this fall.

I'm just excited so see what other mobile companies come up with in terms of "pads" coz I absolutely don't wanna buy an overpriced Ipad. There has already been a samsung pad, so hopefully sony ericsson,htc, nokia and co will release their ideas soon, esp android and win7 os.
