The other argument is not even a month old, so it is valid until the new phenomenon (if true) is consistently followed by iOEM for at least 2 more years.

How many is using wind... morewindows lets you pay to upgrade, in a big corporate world thats too costly, thats why most businesses are stuck with windows xp, for home users why always upgrade when your income does not include windows upgrade.

A device (say Samsung galaxy Note 3) that just works and NOT updated to latest version of OS
OR
a device (say iphone 5s) that just does NOT work because the OEM introduced new features in latest version of the OS which will slow down your old device deliberately and force you to buy a new one?

How many is still using windows 7? Vista? and many more are still using pcs with windows xp.. Why? Because it still works and it still can serve your need.. Don't be an updophobic.. Fear of not getting update.. Just use it as long as it is usable and upgrade when necessary

Most of the Android mobiles don't even get updates. And even if they get its too delayed.
The only way to get quickly update is to buy a new phone which is already updated. lol.
We need to deal with it as Android is growing in technology every month. Making mobiles hardware and software more smarter and powerful in itself. Cheers.

why can't stay in just one OS? why don't android just do upgrades that one OS for all android phones? why should change that OS name? the newer OS of android, the more left behind non flagship phones..
im samsung A5 2016 user, but sometimes i feel regret and scared in using android phones (especially non flagship one), in maximum 1 year, android phones will have no price at all because they will produce new phone like selling roasted peanut and will not get the newer os support from android..
thinking to move to ios, i see they still care to old iphones..

Not hating android or anthing but google should seriously do something about this. Doing something like making the vanila android comulsary on every device with skins and any bloatware optional download. So that google can directly push updates and then according to the update OEMs should update their skins and other software goodies they want to provide to specific phones, to seperate flagships from mid and low rangers.

Big contributions to marshmallow are the devs providing custom roms. Currently using LG G2 running blisspop 6.0.1.

they should have a year of break to polish the Marshmallow version before releasing Android N. This would at least allow for carrier and manufacturer to catch up with the latest version

Anonymous, 08 Mar 2016I don't like loliloop, it's to slow and causes app crashes ... moreActually phones running large amounts of unnecessary ram and trying to cache everything in uses the cpu and battery needlessly.
Desktop operating systems running windows do need lots of ram, as windows is a hog, needs lots of extra security software (most people opt for free stuff, and not memory efficient all inclusive security suites).
Linux systems run decently with 512mb, and 1gb+ is fine for most users.
Same with os x; a couple of gigs is plenty... (yes we can all quote usage scenarios that utililise more.. personally in a windows world I need around 6gb min nowadays-though I usually keep several web browsers open, generally with fourty tabs each..)..
Phones?
Nah.. they just load, preemptively, software we might open.
I'd rather 1-2gbs of super fast ram and superfast storage. This would make for a better user experience..
But sure.. try and educate the world to believing their old 2gb ram phone is useless, and that we need upgrades.
Curious which piece of software, that most users run on phones, requires 3-4gb?..
Or do you nust want your cpu to cache more to software to memory, in case you need it?
Back when android devices had a couple of hundred megs of ram, they simply loaded it as we needed it.
The wait was a few seconds.
Once phones went to 1gb and newer android versions, things changed, and they preloaded stuff in an attempt to make use of several gigabytes.
We already have thousands of megabytes more than we need...
I'd rather a dual ram chip solution (one dedicated to video ram), with both chips on a wide bus at a fast speed.
Instead of wasting silicon on bigger ram chips, spend that money on faster chips, and better power efficiencies...
Then the OS would have less reason to feel laggy..
