Anonymous, 09 Mar 2016Where were you with your comments when the millions of ultr... moreI don't think that the glass on the back costs higher than stiff aluminium used in iPhone (which is also waterproof if not said so). The price of S7 is too high for a glass back phone (I have seen many test videos on net and back glass shatters very easily; I guess front is Gorilla Glass 4 but back is Gorilla Glass 0!). Logic ends here:
-We need to make it waterproof, so lets use glass everywhere (there are waterproof aluminium phones as well)
-If it is waterproof, you can't replace battery (S5 is also waterproof even not IP68 and battery is replaceable)
-Glass breaks down so protect the phone with plastic cover (bundle a plastic cover with the high cost of phone price)
-Service your phone every 2 years for battery replacement (or better than that throw it away and buy a new phone)
-Stop giving OS upgrades after 1-1,5 year.
RESULT: S7 is an expensive piece of s**t which screws you up even more in time.

AnonD-507785, 09 Mar 2016Well...you want aluminium/glass unibody? Waterproof phone? ... moreOh please. You can seal a metal back the SAME as a plastic back.
Samsung could use a similar structure as the S3 to seal off a replaceable back-cover.

These are all excuses to hike up prices and increase profits.

BTW, I didn't ask for unibody or metal phones. In fact nobody asked me what I DO want. I've never even filled in a questionnaire form Sony, Samsung or LG so how the hell do "they" know what the fuck I want!

AnonD-442781, 09 Mar 2016Have you ever repaired a smartphone yourself?No... but the guys whom need to replace the battery after 2,5 or 3 years do.

How would you feel if send your well cared for very expensive device to a "repair" company to exchange the old battery for a new one and you get your device back all battered up?

Even with phones that are easy to repair those repair companies mess up badly. Yes, I'm talking about Dynafix (Samsung, Toshiba, Sony) and Solid Vision (Nokia)!!!!

42, 09 Mar 2016there is nothing huge in a 3000mah battery...i would say it... moreThe note 3 is .6" bigger. For a 5.1" phone 3000mah is relatively high.
The s7 edge is still smaller than the note 3 and has 3600mah.

Well...you want aluminium/glass unibody? Waterproof phone? Don't be surprised if it's hard to get inside, if the water can't do it. I mean...yeah...maybe some clever design with a seal around it could work, but it's another thing to bump up the price. It's not only Samsung phones. Most of them these days will be hard to get inside. I don't mind it. I'm using cell phones for about 2 decades now, and only once I had to open it up to replace something, and that was unfortunate accident, so I'm not really bothered. Full modular phone will sort out the problem, but I guess we need to wait for that one a little bit longer.

if they would make a fully water proof phone with a bigger battery id be happy even if it was a bit thicker and heavier. who really notices 3 mm or 5 extra grams??

The s7 line has taken the world by storm, so as the phone can't be faulted, its got to be customer scare tactics.
The s6 line is currently doing fine in our large circle:
                            no breaks
                            no burn in
                            no scratches
no more lag than the iphone home button..off of power saving mode(I choose to use mine on it,its fast enough (s6+) .)
no battery problems ( the screen can go blinding bright ,and for normal usage 225 is more than easily at normal visibility..don't blame samsung if you need glasses and don't wearem.)

The problems alluded to here of a glass phone got a media and apple fan free pass in its time..nothing to see here.
Higher more expensive tech.warning..meddlers keep out.

Customer service in Samsung hell sucks.

Few months ago, I get shouted by Samsung staff trying to ask for the price of screen replacement for my wife's S6 and yet they still dare to quote me $235 !!! Holy crap !!!

The staff and so unprofessional and impatient towards my questions.

Now that it apparently is possible to make water tight penetrations for usb, buttons, headphone, sim, sdcard, etc. then why not also the battery? whats the difference? it's the last bastion. With a replaceable battery then there is no longer a need ever to disassemble except for repairs. Is Samsung trying to get customers to buy a new phone when the battery is worn out? Such tactics has to come to an end.
It was the same with Windows. Microsoft changed Windows needlessly every so often to get customers to re-buy Windows. That has finally come to an end.

-Old Samsung S series phones were plasticky and we placed them in plastic covers

So, tell me the reason of buying a glass phone (easy to break, needs to be protected by plastic cover, difficult to open phone).
