dukaki, 09 Mar 2016Whatever custom rom you are going to put in there, it will ... moreWhere did you get your figure of 2GB on the 64 bit architecture when the RAM limit on a 32 bit architecture is 4GB?

AnonD-497261, 09 Mar 2016This is the second time I've posted in response to a posts ... moreBenchmarks are there to have a metric for comparing performance on similar devices. Real-world experience is very much irrelevant. My phone (lg g3) doesn't score higher but at least it can keep a word document and a web page open at the same time (in memory) without heating up like a stove.
The point of having a Nexus device without being "flashy" is having a clean version of android and guaranteed, fast updates for your device. At this point I do not want a custom rom that will die when I need it to work.
F2FS is available for the encrypted file system of the user partition by default on Stock. You do not need a custom rom for that.

If it is really happening, I hope that Motorola would make a Nexus device in 2019 because I don't want to own a HTC Nexus even though I like HTC, HTC really doesn't listen to it's consumers opinions like other companies do.

AnonD-497261, 09 Mar 2016This is the second time I've posted in response to a posts ... moreWhatever custom rom you are going to put in there, it will always suffer from ram starvation. The problem is that you only have two gigabytes of RAM on a 64 bit device (the architecture increases consumption) with a custom cpu architecture that needs its own space in that memory. Oh and the GPU needs some space too. The result? You are sitting on the launcher and the system is already using 90% of the available memory. They tried to "fix" that by adding 500mb of zram (compressed memory) which makes app switching tolerable and launcher redraws less often but at the expense of cpu cycles (your device heats up for no good reason). Also, because of the binary translation that denver relies on, the performance can be spotty. If the code you want to run isn't already available in the cpu's reserved memory the system has to wait for it to be translated before it can execute it. Denver is great, this tablet isn't because google/htc never really cared about it. They priced it very high for its build quality (flexing back, display backlight issues) and hardware specs (16gb storage option, less ram than its 32bit phone counterpart). After two really great Nexus 7s, the last Nexus tablet was disappointing to say the least.
I don't live in the US, asking for a replacement on grounds of "bad performance" isn't going to happen.

This is one rumor I hope is very wrong. Remember the Nexus 9? And they were charging a premium for that too.
HTC does not know how to build a budget device.

AnonD-246723, 09 Mar 2016It already exist . Nexus 6p is louder than every HTC one be... moreI have the 6P and yes it's more louder but the the quality is not great as the HTC's and the bass it's not close to BoomSound. I hope the next Nexus will be louder as the 6P and more, and the quality and bass as the BoomSound.

AnonD-504676, 09 Mar 2016Are you retarded? Which HTC flagship that you own since... moreI own an M9 and i was referring to the new flagship the HTC 10 i'm a lil disappointed to see them remove the stereo speakers, plus the overly optimistic quick charge figures QuickCharge 3 or whatever of the HTC10 usually point to a smaller battery like Samsung when they announced the S6 and kept advertising the quick charge feature over the capacity... and what's your deal with asking strangers online if they are retarded? Is this part of normal conversation to you? Don't you have any class?

Yes and the cheapest Bluetooth speaker will put out stereo sound and support an inbuilt DAC. But I suppose, according to your logic, these are only MEANT FOR KIDS.

Although just tired of HTC, I think these will be good devices because most of the decisions will be made by Google, (Google are recently more involved in technical decisions about phone specs, as this last year's nexuses are more identical in design and use same camera despite being different brands, 5x look more Motorola than LG) and Google make better decisions.

Since the N1,I have been hoping/wishing for Google to give HTC another crack at a Nexus phone. This comes at a better time when the company really needs it. I am sure with all the kind of specs and advances available now in mobile tech..together with Google can cookup a masterpiece.
But they have to layoff the huge bezels and putt huge batteries (3500+mAh) on this upcoming Nexus. Also BoomSound should be present on this device. Good luck HTC..we all want to see them back in top form.

dukaki, 09 Mar 2016Nexus 9? Superb performance? When did this happen? It has b... moreThis is the second time I've posted in response to a posts like this, so maybe you're just a troll; but if your N9 is having so many problems then CONTACT HTC OR GOOGLE AND GET A REPLACEMENT UNIT!! My N9 has NEVER had the dead spot, ghost touch, or performance issues y'all complain about, and further more, she's the fastest tablet I've ever owned. The real world performance is unreal, and consistently scoring 100,000+ on Antutu 6 ain't too bad either.
Until the SD820 devices were unveiled, there wasn't an ARMv8 device even close to the N9 . . don't believe it, check the results for yourself. Tegra's custom ARMv8 SoC's are in another league, ESPECIALLY Denver. The N9 does with 2 optimized custom v8 cores what the Exynos 7420 does with 8!! Haters gonna hate, I've got FACTS, benchmarks, and actual experience backing it up. Nvidia is NOT to be fuct with, and I wish they were more focused on the mobile market :,-(
How could you spend money on such a nice device and then bitch and whine on the internet when it not only doesn't live up to expectations, but according to you, is malfunctioning? If you've gone over your warranty, then you should have done something instead of complain, BUT, HTC has great customer service when it comes to this Nexus, and a buddy of mine had some light leakage on her N9 from the bottom of the IPS (BARELY NOTICEABLE), and she was out of warranty. She was persistent and was able to get a replacement device. You just have to do your research and call the right department/person.
FYI, the N9 has a 'vendor' partition that needs to be manually flashed via adb with any major update, so there's a chance the issues you're talking about are the result of a mismatched 'vendor' and 'system' (i.e., vendor: MMB25S, system: MMB29V). Also, the issues you're talking about sound like they're definitely software related, so why don't you flash the current official CM13 nightly and see if that fixes it, AND DON'T FORGET TO UPDATE THE 'VENDOR' PARTITION' TO MATCH THE CM13 SYSTEM VERSION!! I have a N9 LTE and just got on board with CM13's nightly development about a month ago, and aside from the occasional hiccup, is pretty damn stable thus far. Developing for Tegra is a little more involved due to the GPU libraries and some other v8 stuff, but even with that stuff, the nightly channel is updated every 1-3 days.
What's the point of having a Nexus device if you're not gonna be flash happy with it? I've never understood that, especially with the N9 supporting F2FS!!
:-)
