Come on apple surely you can make a better device without limiting what the consumer can do with it? I'm a high end user and the samsung galaxy s has far more freedom! The iphone is like a gold plated cage, I'd rather be free than live in a cage! :)

You know, the only thing that makes this website so bad for me is the user comments. All I read on here is just random bashing with no basis. Regardless how you feel about Apple, you can't deny the iPhone 4 is a solid phone and that it's selling amazingly well.
Trying to disagree with known facts makes you look less intelligent than you probably are, I do understand that you're trying to share your 2 cents, but reading your comments is both ignorant and childish.
It's no wonder GSMArena decided to just show one comment at a time as your reading an article, the majority of you are embarrassing.

Reasoned debate ... morei think the N8 will be the first proper symbian touch phone from nokia but less than a year from now nokia will announce another device with symbian^4 and of course the N8 owners wont receive a symbian^4 update :S and i agree the n900 is the best nokia phone till now have you seen android 2.2 on n900 looks amazing

If I HAD to buy a new phone now to replace the 3GS (which I don't want to right now) I would pick the X10, or one of the new HTC android phones, or perhaps a SE android (they are coming on leaps and bounds again I see)
I shy away from Nokia, because apart from Maemo on the N900, I cant see Symbian making any impact until a year from now with their new untested OS. If Nokia have learnt anything from the last few years, they will delay the N8 until it works perfectly, and that it has been thoroughly tested.

Now Now boys! I bought the IP4 after some consideration and it is slick, well built and the screen is amazing but after 4 days, I have decided I love my white X10 that bit more.....and before you start slagging the X10, it is by far the best looking phone out there. Plus when upgraded, I will have, effectively, a brand new phone with HD recording, a brilliant camera and a flexible brilliant UI. I also love the fact that I can alter my playlist on the go and delete stuff from my memory card without my laptop!
Useless to compare phones or sales, if Nokia only made one model, no doubt they would ship a bucketful, its about whetting people's appetite.

No-one does it like Apple, period.
Self-appointed "experts" can whine all they like but it won't change the hottest selling smartphone ever.

As a total anti-iphone person,i thank to apple and i am very glad for their success because challange born real competition,cheaper and smarter products from Nokia,wich i buy. Thank you iphone that you exist!

Can't understand those 1.7 m even with poor reviews here and there but they still rush in stores to buy a faulty designed device!
you may mention XBOX 360 that i compared the design flaw of two earlier but those who purchased X360 in launch even after dreaded RROD revealed(including me)Exclusive Halo 3 and backward compatibility for my 56 Xbox games + Xbox Live(which was,is and will be the best Video Game console online network of all time)was enough to give my hard earned money to Microsoft but cell phone market is something different and (at least in 2010) we can say there is no different between devices or if there is it's minor and if a handset beat counterpart in some way it will beaten in another way and today you can get almost everything on every device.
but i must admit i didn't expect these kind of sales however i think sales will hurt if this reception issue or what ever they call it not solved soon and more and more people realized it.

If nokia put all their phones with a contract then they would sell millions
But the retail price would decrease and they would have to make less models cause there will be a higher demand
But it's all about choice which nokia gives to users
