With Froyo barely out the door, attention is turning to the next Android version - 3.0 Gingerbread. It will impose minimum hardware requirements, the UI is getting overhauled and Android is splitting into two...

    How can they stop 3rd party UI's when it's an open standard? Surely Htc, Moto etc. can still offer the third party UI's, just not pre installed? And agree with below comments, I think Android has to slow down a bit because people are feeling a little left behind.

          Ahhhhh what it means by 1.5, 1.6, 2.1, 2.2 its not a hi-end phone? And they said 3.0 Is a hi-end phone crazy!!! Then what's, next super hi-end, next extra super hi-end phone!!!! lol.......

            This is why I'm putt off by Android, constant changes, battles to get older handsets updated and now this. I can imagine its hard to feel valued as an Adroid adopter when your handset is practically out of date the second you get it. Say what you want about Apple and iPhone but at least the way they keep things simple means that your handset gets a decent amount of longevity.

                        Taking away 3rd party UI's will only force phone companies to concentrate more on hardware specs.
