Nokia N9 smartphone to actually pack a large 4-inch touchscreen

01 July, 2010
While earlier rumors of the still unannounced Nokia N9 predicted that Nokia's next flagship device will come with a 3.5-inch touchscreen now it turned out that the phone will actually feature a way larger 4" display...

Looking at it next to the Evo it isn't even close to 4 inches... It's probably 3.7 which is the same size as the N97. Not to mention, all of the communicators have had much larger screens (and the E90 had a higher resolution) years ago. First for Nokia? Not quite.

maybe this is AT&Ts snapdragon symbianphone which was promised. because north american 3g is supported. that text clarity on that 4" screen obviously shows its not 640x360.

Alpha, 01 Jul 2010Based on this screenshot: http://www.negrielectronics.com/b... moreNo doubt, you are right. 640 x 360 is still pretty dense for a 4" er but nevertheless, its about time nokia started focussing more on selling phones than proving points. How many people understand this things? What the average mobile user cares about is 'mine is better than yours'. I'm still of doubt that the resolution is 640 x. . . Even if the resolution of the unit shown was 640, i doubt the final product would be shipped with that screen. I just can't imagine. It would be the dumbest move nokia has made in recent history.

Class Action Suit vs Apple Under Way, 2nd Lawsuit In The Works [ 01-07-2010 18:29 ]
Author: Ivanov KonstantinSource: Gizmodo Translation by: Paul Smith
Remember that class action lawsuit that was being prepared in California? Well another law firm has beat them to it, launching a suit in Maryland in the U.S.The lawsuit has been filed by Ward & Ward, PLLC, and Charles A. Gillman LLC on behalf of Kevin McCaffrey, Linda Wrinn and various other iPhone 4 customers. The complaint? What else could it be? The now infamous antenna issue of course! The suit makes various claims, which are listed below:
                      * General Negligence (APPLE and AT&T)
                      * Defect in Design, Manufacture, and Assembly (APPLE)
                      * Breach of Express Warranty (APPLE)
                      * Breach of Implied Warranty for Merchantability (APPLE and AT&T)
                      * Breach of Implied Warranty of Fitness for a Particular Purpose (APPLE and AT&T)
                      * Deceptive Trade Practices (APPLE and AT&T)
                      * Intentional Misrepresentation (APPLE and AT&T)
                      * Negligent Misrepresentation (APPLE and AT&T)
                      * Fraud by Concealment (APPLE and AT&T)
The antenna problems being reported by thousand sof customers are not confined to the U.S. of course, reports have surfaced in just about every country that the iPhone 4 is officially on sale in. Whether this means we will see more lawsuits appearing in other countries remains to be seen, but with two already in the U.S. it wouldn't be too surprising.

I did a screen capture, and then cropped that image in a photo editing program, resolution was 640x360.

                              So it's 640x360 confirmed.

Fine by me, as I think 3.5 inch a tad too small, and still pixels per inch wise, it's still almost twice as sharp as my 1080p 23 inch display. 800x480 would have been nice, but 640x360 is good enough.

It's obviously narrower than the iphone therefore it's lesser than 4". Gsmarena if you do the math, N9 screen at 16:9 should be about as wide as iphone screen to achieve 4" width.
Another thing in the video is that the surface of N9 appears bigger because it's thicker than the other phones so it's nearer to the camera. My estimate should be 3'7" or 3'8" at most
