Aspros, 21 Apr 2016Thats the 3rd time you insukt me you prick, why make it per... moreOk, let me break it down to you like a reasonable person.
Gimmick is something that people doesn't use everyday. After I'm done, tell me if you think 3D touch is still a gimmick.
In touchscreen display, we don't have the ease of having a right mouse button, scroll button or any other shortcuts that keyboards offer. So we had to rely on Tap or Hold for navigation around tthe OS.
As at that time no other navigation options were available, the OS designers had to dumb down their OS to be navigated with only the limited functions of Tapping & Holding.
But as the time changed and technology developed, HUMANS came up with the technology to use pressure as another form of navigation. Though to some it looked nothing special, those who actually used Desktop or Laptops regularly felt a surge of excitement through their hearts. Cause now, the phones too can have a Right mouse button.
To understand its utility more clearly, think about a mouse in which the right mouse button doesn't work. Can you properly use the PC then? (keyboard shortcuts are irrelevant in this case)
Think about what the developers can do when they starts utilizing this function properly. It won't just be use as gimmick like apple is kinda doing now, it'll be an integrated right mouse button for Android.
They can assign different functions on taps, holds or 3D touches. Give it a few years. Then you yourself will throw out you old phone and exchange its place with a one that comes with 3D touch. Cause if it doen't, then yours will be a PC without the Right mouse button.
I hope I made you change your outlooks towards 3D Touch. Thank you.

I am just expressing my opinion that this tech offers nothing othger gestures can do and gives the wrong message at coppying Apple.
You must an Apple fanboy judging by yr arrogance, lack of respect and iq, that have you have yet to comprehend that not everything Apple does its perfect and simply repeat their claims before they introduced the gimmick. But after all the time we have yet to see any real feature the endless posibilities the touch force could offer, that cannot be done by gestures already in use for years and you run around insulting ppl, without giving a concrete answer...

3D touch adds possibilities for better accessibility in terms of assigning shortcuts to certain tasks. It is just like when they added support for multi-touch, I guess. People may have been like, "Why would we want 1 display with can recognize 10 individual fingers? All we ever use is 1. That will just make the price higher."
If you honestly can't see why having a display with 3D touch support is better than having one without, then I really feel bad for you. Dumb people do have to live a hard life.

The ... more3D touch is not impractical..i use 3D touch notifications with peek&pop gestures all the time and barely even have to open apps anymore to see whats going on...btw 3D touch sensitivity can be adjusted in accessibility settings to light, medium, or firm..Medium is default..7 months no hardware issues at all..Google has good reason to implement this feature..Im an Ex Nexus user, Android feels like junk after using a Jailbroken iPhone..Trust me..

Are you are one of those ppl that use air gestures, instead of swipping, just because the latest S can?
Son the android OS has to face real issues, instead of adding gimmicks just because Apple did, if this gimmick was adding smth usefull, ok, but doing for the shake of it?
If you happen ta ask an iphone user about the 3d touch, you would let you know how uncomfortabke and unpractical 3d touch is. And because there is no feedback from the force needed to activate firce touch, most of the users tend to press the screen far to hard, esp if they are in a hurry, this will inevitably lead to more hardware issues soon or later.

The extra pressure may harm the screen and will increase the costs to develop and to inclyde, for no valid reason. Up untill now it has only been used to bring up a context menu, iOS needed more than most because they have more limitations, less gestures, capacity and bar buttons, but android doesnt. And even Apple failed to convince anyone it was smth more than just a gimmick, google could introduce it after its usefullness was proved...

Aspros, 18 Apr 2016I disagree with the idea that Apple knows best and whatever... moreJust because your phone doesn't have it, it doesn't mean the tech is shit.
If you actually used your brain, then you would've known that it is the future. The possibilities are endless. Having the scope to assign different controls to tap, hold and forch touch will lead to better usability and productivity.
Innovation is not from those who fear changes.
Sincerely,
A Samsung User

As long as OEM's continue to sell phones with displays that aren't pressure sensitive then this doesn't bother me, especially if the feature will work on conventional screens. I still don't like how Android manufactures copy Apple and then Google is forced to bake it into their OS later like they did with fingerprint and now this gimmick.

I think I've used 3D Touch once since I got my 6s Plus 7 months ago. Actually I sometimes use it to peek into emails and Whatsapp chats, but that's it. It's pretty useless. Peeking and then popping a Safari link will make your device load the page twice, once when peeking and once when popping! Some things weren't thought out.

Oh God no. Force touch is the stupidest and most pointless "feature"/gimmick on smartphones in a long time. It does nothing an long press doesn't do, but is far more annoying and inconsistent to use. Using it on the iPhone is horrible.
I can understand following Apple's lead on good ideas. But copying them on dumb ideas just compounds the moronicness. In this instance, it's just an example that Apple is running out of good ideas.
