Surely now Samsung, HTC, Motorola, Google or Blackberry would win over Apple this time unless Apple releases iPhone 4.1 Improved Signal Edition :D

This is sad, I do wish Apple stops shortchanging people like this. I was gonna gift an iPhone 4G to my Dad, only coz he is usually damn busy and needs a easy to use phone which does not really need to be feature packed and I really felt that the iPhone UI is very simple to use and the lack of features didn't bother me. The iPhone looks smart and does the basic work of communication. But now, of course, I can't gift him a phone that's not even good for basic communication.
I have an iPod Touch 3GS and waiting to upgrade it to iOS 4.0 now, I really think it is a good device and APPLE for all I care should stick to making what they are really good at... the portable music players and really smart looking laptops and notebooks. Leave the phone making to companies that do not resort to cheap tactics to sell their phones.
I am glad I didn't wait for the iPhone 4G to upgrade my own Blackberry, I just went in for an HTC Desire and am loving it.

Returned my iPhone...what a joke, formula error or not, whereas my cheap, trusted Samsung D900 can make calls from just about anywhere, the Iphone 4 (which I have just returned to Orange) always goes to voicemail and is near impossible to make calls from, even when I lay it flat on the desk. Yes, the rubber case helps but still not enough, the iPhone 4 is just an Ipod touch with HD camera. HTC should send the EVO to the UK!

Basi... moreYou do know that Wi-Fi chip, bluetooth and radio 3G micro transitors are actual physical micro hardware melded into the antenna conductor right? So you mean Apple is going to give you a magical "software" that makes the Wi-fi hardware chip into bluetooth and a radio 3G transistor into a Wi-fi chip? This is not the Matrix and Apple cannot bend the laws of physics. Maybe you can ask Apple to release a software that makes tv remote into a 4 inch touchscreen device.

So unless you're telling me that a firmware update can disconnect and then solder wires . . . There is no fix for the iphones antennae issues and there would never be. The problem is with the phone design. Its not something that can be rectified without altering the entire phone design.

[deleted post]I'm not an iPhone hater, I was even thinking to buy an iPhone 4. However, this bad antenna design makes any phone unusable for me. Also, it seems that the screen quality is not as we could expect from Apple.
Now, the official Apple reaction is just unfair. Why can't they just recognise that they did something wrong? Do you think you are just too stupid to hold your iPhone correctly in a way you can call all the time, or that Apple lies?
Sorry but I cannot accept their answer to this issue. It is a lack of users respect. Today my only choice is to go for something else.

I am sure they will fix the problem with new firmware. Basically part of antenna is for 3g part of it is for Wi-Fi/radio/Bluetooth. So they will switch these two parts so you won't lose calls and date but instead Wi-Fi/radio/Bluetooth.

No matter how we bash it, sadly Apple is still making tons of cash thanks to its "loyal" customers. That alone is reason enough for them to create more spinoffs for their products.

Apple users are like the apple company...they want to fool people to think that they are someone else; The apple company is dreaming that they are nokia corporation and having very good quality phones and the apple users imagine that they are cool;The reality is that they are trying to complete themselves because the mother nature wasn´t to generouse with them;A real cool person do not need any accesories, he is cool anytime, anywhere with or without his icrap... And we all know that the percent of less inteligent people is higher than the percent of inteligent people, that´s whay apple sold 1,7 milion phones in 3 days;And please, do not start with that stupid things that I can not afford buying an apple product... I CAN buy a 1000$ phone, but this do not mean that y want to throw away that money buying a iPHONE who is not even a phone... I want to be efficent,that´s why I am a nokia costumer;

Hired some "antenna expert" to say the issue is overblown, just a hype.
Damage-control. Lawsuits are coming.
