The ideal display size is determined by the width as whats an average hand can grab. And that's probably what Samsung has already determined to be 5.1". But nobody wants a large device. So there is still room for improvement by eliminating the bottom bezel all together and reducing the top bezel to only whats absolutely necessary (which excludes room for a logo).

Ideal small size is 4.7 inch or somewhat the size of z5 compact. Ideal Juggernaut size is 6 inch with small bezel like c5 ultra or mate8... Un ideal large size is 6.5-6.9 inch monster (actually is a nice to have the battery and satisfaction when it equipped with QHD or UHD screen at that size) the unideal size is 4.5 inch or less (except if its an iPhone) speaking of iphone the device would be very good if its shaped like ip-6 with the 4 inch screen of the ip-se and priced similarly and has no camera bump and the aluminum frame is brushed it would look amazing

            4.7 - 5.3

AnonD-19153, 24 Apr 2016I'd really want a 4.7" HD with top specsCheck out the Sony Xperia Z5 Compact

I'd say (this is all IMO) anything between 4.6-5.3" are good for me IF it has a compact body with it. For example, the LG G3 has a good and nice body, I could use it comfortably without a case, but since I'm once of those people who hook up a case right after they got their devices... that'd make it super thick/wider, making me unavailable to use it.

If screen to body ratio is nice like note 5 then phns which are 5.4" to 5.7" is also easy to handle otherwise 5" to 5.3"....

4.7 to 5" ideal fit to one hand operation,. Max ppi avail,. No prob,.

It all comes down to the user really.
The big issue here is that when you see the smaller screen sized handsets they tend to not have a hd resolution and have cheaper harware which results in a poor experience in some cases.
I personally thing my note 2 (that im still using) is boarderline for me as I tend to use it single handed. Now look at my secondary handset I have a zte fit 4g which is 4.5 inches and fits very well in the hand and pocket also easy to use with one hands, sure the camera is low spec and screen not hd but its good.

I have a 4.7" low end phone. It isn't powerful but very comfortable to hold,
& 5.2" flagship phone. It is good for movies. But both are good for me.
