Intel wants to kill the 3.5mm headset jack too

27 April, 2016
Last week LeEco unveiled three new Android-powered smartphones that have one interesting thing in common - neither of them features a 3.5mm headset jack. Instead, you're supposed to use the USB Type-C port for all your audio needs.

The first company that does this will kill their sales. I'm not going to run out and replace my computer and MY CAR just so I can have a new type of cellphone jack/connector rammed down my throat.

This is a good idea, all analogue headphones can still be used with a small connector 3.5mm to Type C. But we will lose the ability to charge and listen to music

i have a favorite pair of analogs headphones.
However i don`t need to worry about the switch to USB type-c since i have older devices that can still use my 3.5mm. not so much to worry about there.

Hate the idea. I prefer using my own third party headphones. With this, choice of good pair of headphones becomes limited(or if any). Not to mention, higher chance for the port to be damaged (charging, file transfer, audio etc) all with the single port

And what happens when the battery is almost empty and you want to continue watching the film and charging the phone.
