sea-breeze, 11 Jul 2010am just hoping they read and work on things that matters ..... moreI understand you there. They do have do adapt and upgrade more to impress. Do not worry. The numbers may look small but the performance could be amazing. And as it is Symbian, I am sure you will be able to change the looks and feels of the icons and indicators. Nokia never bothers to change it themselves, and that may tick a lot of people off, it's good to know they don't restrict the ability for you to tweak it.

Hang in there =D! Maybe the N8 will be a hit and the phone you desire.

    Nokia has always kinda been the ones that thinks about underdeveloped countries and environment issues, you have to give them cred for that. As for now, there is absolutely no reason to have 1Ghz processors on mobile phones. There are no apps or games yet developed to use more than 600Mhz at most. Not many people walk around with 1080P or 720P movies in the phones or has devices that can support them.

      [deleted post]Do you even know what jailbreaking means :)?, first you cant jailbreak iPhone 4 yet, so how the hell your sister having jailbroken iphone4? :) Secondly its nothing to do with Apple with jailbroken multitasking, there's different multitasking styles available and Apple has nothing to do with them

      I reply your own comment to back to you ;) "So don't talk about stuff you don't seem to know."

        Emerson, 11 Jul 2010No. You still don't get it. This OS is still in works, not ... moreI agree, mobile usage hardly never even reaches 600 Mhz unless playing HD movies. Nokia made their stand clear at last Mobile conference that they are focusing on productive energy efficient processors for 3 reasons.

        First reason was having efficient battery life for professional, business and working class heavy users.

        The second reason was the segment where not everybody has the financial luxury or access of charging the phone 2 times a day.

        The third reason was taking responsibility in envoirmental issues

        Reason 2 and 3 kind of goes together, something you can see clearly as Nokia is heavily investing in development in Mobile charging of the bicycle generator and the self charging phones that gets charged from movement.

          Emerson, 11 Jul 2010No. You still don't get it. This OS is still in works, not ... moream just hoping they read and work on things that matters ... when me and u and others says we need faster faster powerfull device they will work on makin the device smoother and better ... they must listen to ppl demands ... if no one says anything no innovations and no upgradings will happens as the people are happy and not complaining!

          am saying all of that cuz i love nokia i've been using nokias from 10yrs and am sad to find others taking their share from the market .., but nokia must change to live .

              sea-breeze, 11 Jul 2010@jon swe u say i know where u comin from ?!! so whats wr... moreNo. You still don't get it. This OS is still in works, not even released to public, in beta testing. You have no idea whether it will be slow or fast like the old versions. NO ONE KNOWS. So when you say that this needs more RAM, processor, you can't say that for sure because you haven't even seen the finished product.

              Damian and the people who work there can say how much RAM is needed because they're testing it, determining how much RAM numerous apps can take up when being multitasked.

              In this specific example, you have almost 300MB of acting RAM. Almost enough to run plenty of apps.

              And plus, the only theoretical way you could ever run out of app memory is if you had at least 30 APPS running. If you had 5 or 6, you could do just fine.

              And you also need to know that this specific processor is underclocked from 1GHZ. Yes, this ARM can do that. It's underclocked to increase the battery life significantly, and because the new OS can thread and perform tasks without even going over the 700Mhz line. Additionally, most of the work being done while using the OS is off-handled by the GPU. Most of the new OS has tasks that are 3D hardware accelerated, so the GPU takes advantage of that, while the processor handles the little tasks. Do you understand how that works? You can perform intensive tasks and still have much battery life.

              It's best that you hold off all your flawed criticisms until this device is released, then you will see.

                @jon swe

                u say i know where u comin from ?!! so whats wrong pal from where am coming from ! funnny,, dont let get go out of the point .., first u must know i have no envy at nokia i have no problem at all switching between fones that proves to be be better.
                but the optical illusion u say isn't clear ad it isn't clear as well thats it isn't n8 .., but why the illusion apply on the fone and not on the man holding the fone ! from the position of the lens upper left corner it says am not n8 cause the n8 lens is at the middle ... the illusion could round things thats right but couldnt change measures! anyway am sure it gonna be a great imaging device am willing to buy one if it proves worthy.

                @mr.damian dinning

                thats a good sign of a great person to reply to a public fourm but the main problem is nokia must adapt to the new market needs most of us cant use the same OS for 10yrs now its the same sir from the pretty old the legendary 7650 and 3650 and old 6600 same icons and interface and signal and battery bars even items locations !! another thing when u announced the n86 8mp u said (nokia) heroic statments on its capabilities and 3rd generation leds and i believed u and bought it .., all i got is a laggy device that lags and take a year to even load the gallery thumbnails and to even load for about 8-10sec the camera app. from the standby screen with a very Stiff camera button that ruins all pics ?!!! with a disasteric noise at night shots that was ur new camera flagship !!!!

                Thats why we demand more power and more ram to make the device smoother its not acceptable for a device to hang when using its own menu transition (n86) ... am afraid to pay for the n8 and get frusturated .., i'll wait for thousands to buy and read feedbacks then decide worthy or not worthy

                @ People

                ppl who say Symbian Doesn't need those 1ghz processors and those huge ram ... no sirs it NEEDS ... the n86 n97 (dont know about n900) do lag and hang and run out of memory and processing power.

                            In the end they say its pretty good at something its not, beeing a handheld computer. And they twist the words so it comes out a a fantastic moive-player, which its not, due to the aspect ratio and the lack off codecs.
                            We browsing is pretty good. But unfortunately it doesnt do flash content, so you miss out on a lot of web-experience by having to use special apps for watching a video on a site. And you miss out on some of the video-sites as well.
                            Its the best handheld app-device in the sense that there is a lot of apps for it, and no one has managed to match that.
                            "t's the best handheld computer there is. Web browsing is a revelation, it's a fantastic music- and movie-playing iPod".

                            But its selling like crazy. So the marketing team at Apple are very good.
                            Still its well behind the startac series of the 90s and the 3310/3330 from early 2000. Perhaps even behind some other device that i dont know the sales figures for.
                            And its on level with the razr series (perhaps beaten it by some devices at this point).
                            So not even sales figure are un heard of... and imagine what the world looked like when all those other devices was on top of the game... lots of more people have cellphones today.

                                    Like i said before, i don't use Symbian, i use Maemo and Blackberry OS. I usually tell people that want eyecandy experience with the raw power of Symbian to go get Nokia N900 with Maemo.

                                    Symbian is very powerful yet kind of a ugly OS but most people skin the OS, cause it's an open source and can twisted and changed whatever way you like. There are skins/themes that looks exactly like Android and iPhone OS for Symbian Touch if that's what you prefer.

                                    No company is perfect. Nokia focused to much on the multimedia and forgot the user experience, Apple focused to much on the user experience and forgot that people actually need to make calls and not just shove it in the ass and press the iDildo vibrate app.

                                    The amount of jealousy on this page is quite funny. The iTards a boiling within. It's not our fault that Steve took a huge dump on your face buy lying to you for 3 years about the misrepresented reception bars.

                                    And so the tradition continues and the cult is following.

                                      And they would also find that judging by the grip it actually has to be a pretty slim and lightweight device.
