Oh for got sake stop harping on about what Opera Mini claims or does not claim to do.. that means jack all ! It is what it is, if it does not have the features of the better browsers its failed, if it does not exceed on the other browsers main features, it mealy blends in.
All mini is, is a poor browser with a proxy service behind it, its nothing new, nothing special. Gees, you could point the default android at a web proxy that simply compresses images and text. Get real, in fact... hey google... enable such a proxy service for your browser, why you offer all these other cloud services this seems to be a no brainer. Maximise those piffling caped data allowances were all being subjected to.
If you want us to use you, its google who should be doing this, and from within its richer browser that you already have. common.

I can confirm the multi touch zoom does NOT provide a continual liner zooming feature (such as the default android browser). Detection of the two fingered gesture only goes as far as switching between two fixed zoom levels. A much to close view or the fully zoomed out view which is unusable for browsing as you can't read anything as the page is so small, usfull only for a summary overview of the page your viewing.
Also selecting text it a nightmare, bordering impossible. firstly you need to selecxt the close zome levle(so you can read the text), then keeping your finger depressed, you may be lucky enough to notice a small menu appear under your finger, if you do you will see the select text option. clicking that did very little to help me select text. in fact i tried to select some text in a column, a telephone number to copy, and all i ended up doing was moving the page about when i wanted to move the cursor about. One of the worse implementations i have seen. Not sure who allowed this release in such a state but two key features are utter trash. STRANGE ... conspiracies please ?

Look, everyone! If you want a browser with multi-touch and Flash support, use the default Android browser, or Dolphin HD, or Skyfire, or xScope, or Steel Browser, or NetDroid Browser.
Opera Mini's main function is to compress data, while maintaining the original look of the website, so that not only does the user less data, but they can also browse the web on a slow 2G/EDGE connection.
Now, STOP complaining about the lack of multi-touch and Flash in Opera Mini.

The only problem IMO is no video streaming.

I really don't get why this is a big deal. As far as I can see its nowhere near as good feature-wise as even the standard Android browser. If they'd actually done an Android version of full-blown Opera Mobile then maybe it'd be interesting (much like Opera Mini on Symbian was average but the Opera Mobile was/is great)

people seem to be missing the point of opera mini.
its main advantage is that you can browse the web very fast even when on 2G network.

Be aware - Opera Mini has significant security issues. I'm amazed sites like GSM Arena don't make this clear before promoting its use. Even Opera themselves say use another browser if you need a fully secure connection (e.g. for banking).

for anyone asking abt pinch zooming, the new opera browsers only have 2 levels of zoom so pinch zooming will not work. the full release dies seem faster and more reliable, page rendering is way better and words dont overlap each other like on the beta (especially on gsmarena). also (maybe this is just me) it seems that selecting links is way more precise.
best feature of all is definitely the default browser option!
