Anonymous, 16 Jul 2010You see, i work with phones but i don't have to explain mys... moreI didn't say that it has the best camera, but I can say that it can compete with other cameras with higher mp. Effective marketing can only carry a product so far. But to sustain it for 4 years? Come on. It's gotta be more than just great marketing. The iphone is far from being shallow. I have already enumerated the reasons why it's not. Why do you think everyone else is following its path? From OS optimization, to the app store, to the touchscreen, to the UI, to its web browsing, to its touch gestures, etc. All new touchscreen phones are AUTOMATICALLY compared to the iphone. Come on buddy. The iphone is not for everyone. But you don't have to be an iphone fan or user to see what's obvious.

Andy Burgin, 16 Jul 2010Any company that releases something faulty should return al... moreBut there is nothing faulty with the iphone4's antenna. It's working. I would say though that the antenna placement is a bad decision on Apple's part, but it is not a faulty antenna.
As for Toyota. We are talking about BRAKES. Brakes that could kill or seriously injure a driver if it fails. That would require a recall. Phones can also have recalls. That is if the flaw can lead to a degree of injury. How can the death grip cause an injury? An exploding battery, exploding display while on use, or a none working included feature can be grounds for a recall ordered by the court. But this is not the iphone4's case. It can make and receive calls. It's antenna has passed FCC tests. It is nothing more but a mishap on the iphone4's antenna design. You cannot order Jaguar a recall because they decided to use a knob instead of a stick for their gear selector for their xf and the xj.

Anonymous, 15 Jul 2010And how is iphone4 shallow? It's 5mp camera outclasses one... moreYou see, i work with phones but i don't have to explain myself to you. It's not the best camera. Just not. Number of sales is not the factor of the best quality but best marketing. Oh,sorry i believe you are Twilight fan (if you read books I mean),that one sold in millions too, Iphone is a product, not future phone, jesus phone, muhammad phone or whatever...nice product, but still not the best. I never said it's not good, shallow is the word.

Any company that releases something faulty should return all the products an repair them, like Toyota with the Fault Breaks, they didn"t want to Spoil the Reputation so ask people to return the cars an get them Repaired,Apple with all the Money they have made from the iPhone early success, should just ask all the new iPhone4 buyers to return there phones an get them Repaired for Free, then Apple will no get a bad Reputation, but because they will not admit the fault, this will not be idea from Apple,an why wasn"t this phone Antenna tested before it was fitted,an never been told you are holding the phone wrong from Nokia, but Apple does, what a stupid excuse

imac, 15 Jul 2010according to msnbc www.msnbc.msn.com/id/38260210/ steve job... moreThat is according to msnbc. But they don't have the details as to when was it brought up to management and what was management's reply. A lot of conversations could have taken place between the engineers and Apple management between the time that engineer brought it up to Apple management and the time of the iphone4's release. The iphone4 sold 1.7 units in 3 days, and by now it already has surpassed 2 million units I've heard. As I have said, if this death grip is indeed a deterent. People would return their iphone4's and no one would buy it moving forward. But Apple Stores are still sold out of it. Antagonists and rivals, with the use of the media, are trying to ruin Apple's reputation, since they cannot beat the iphone fairly and squarely by fair competition. They cannot beat the iphone directly, so an indirect strategy is the route they're taking. But they will fail. Iphone4 users are very happy with their iphones, or else, all 1.7 million of iphone4's would've already been returned.

And, btw, I h a t e iTunes, can't we manage this phone the same way we do with the others???, let me use it as a hard drive and throw in all the mp3s and get back the movs and jpgs! omg.. it's not so hard..

Guys, dont worry about ur iphone 4's reception issue.....
Steve is about to offer an external 'i-antenna' which u need to place above ur solid dumb head and connect wid ur iphone 4.this will increase the reception and apple wil not need to do that by a fake signal indicator.
Or just simply get any other phone and stop nagging.

Anonymous, 15 Jul 2010Yes, it's the closest thing to perfection compared to other... moreaccording to msnbc www.msnbc.msn.com/id/38260210/ steve jobs knew that the phone had network issues due to the placement of the antenna and chose to ignore it. All these negative reviews the device is getting about network issues can be easily proved to be true by a consumer just before buying the phone with a simple firm grip. This has created a negative image towards the iphone 4 and may hinder further sales of this device yes it has sold a solid 1.7 million units in just 3 days but will it be able to sell more if apple don't provide an actual solution to this problem ? this is an interesting question since up to now the firmware updates will just tweak the way you see the network bars and for any sane person he'll see that there is no software upgrade that will fix hardware issues.I am a nokia/iphone user with iphone 3gs been my secondary phone i can easily upgrade to ios 4 if i want to and the iphone 3gs has been very reliable and i've never had any issue with it ,i'll wait for apple to resolve their issues before considering buying the iphone 4 this is what most people who haven't bought the iphone 4 are currently doing and i've never had this feeling when the previous iphones were released. THIS HAS SO FAR DAMAGED APPLE'S REPUTATION OF CHURNING OUT RELIABLE PHONES.

Val, 15 Jul 2010Iphone is like Avatar... visual perfection but like that mo... moreAnd how is iphone4 shallow? It's 5mp camera outclasses ones with higher mp. It has more apps than the rest. It has the best touchscreen. Its gyroscope integration with its accelerometer ias awesome for apps. It's the thinnest smartphone. It has the highest display resolution. The most user friendly UI. Unique OS that's not shared with anybody else. The best music player. Etc. How is that shallow?
And why do you say you have one right now and prefer another. By all means, return it and get the device the works better for you. Liar. If a device is sellin in millions, that's proof that it works well to a lot of people, or else, why buy it if it doesn't work for you?

idontcare, 15 Jul 2010Wow! Why that despair? It's a phone, who are you? Steve job... moreNot despaired at all. Just making a comment. So you think it's fine for you to attack the iphone, but not ok for us legit users to defend it? Nice.
Well the iphone4 is in fact better than the 3gs. It's not perfect still, but it's an improvement. Who said that I am denying the antenna issue? But yes, I still like it.

Anonymous, 15 Jul 2010A hardware failure problem they tried to use software to fi... moreApple never said that a software update will fix a hardware problem. They found out about the signal bars showing inaccurate number of bars after doing some more testing. No one would've known about it if they didn't bring it up. So how can you say they deliberately cheated?
And who are you to demand recall when you don't even have an iphone4? Lol. Didn't you know that Apple offered a full refund for 30 days if we're not happy with our iphone4? I say that's even better than a recall.

Iphone is like Avatar... visual perfection but like that movie very shallow...and oh,by the way some people say something like: you never had an iphone blablabla... Have one with me right now. It's an ok phone but it's not years ahead of everyone else, HTC,Samsung;Nokia...they all have same and in some elements better devices and that's the truth. If something is sold in millions is not evidence of great quality. You can't argue with that...Nokia lovers,Iphone lovers;Droid lovers.... you can't argue with that.

And the funny part is that 2 months ago the 3g was the best thing on hearth, now it's crappy and the 4 is the real deal... Gosh, it would be easier to say, it has faults but I still like it than fake that you don't think or have a brain... Well have it your way!

A hardware failure problem they tried to use software to fixed it? LOL
Apple already admitted they cheated their customers from beginning by faking the reception bars. They were intend to make ppl see full bars when the actual bars are two lesser. This is even a proven fact on news everywhere and you fellow apple brats still thinks apple is doing the right thing to try to solve the problem? The firmware update is just another trick they try to cover up their failure so people won't talk about it no more..
Recall is the only way to go, or be like Nintendo Wii offer FREE case. Show how much you care about your customers NOT just give us discount!!

Anonymous, 15 Jul 2010Are u serous ? Closest to perfection ? U still call it a ph... moreYes, it's the closest thing to perfection compared to other smartphones. And yes, it is a phone and we can make and receive calls just fine with it, much better than the 3gs. And please let us not get into "I gave it to my brother or sister" because that's just dumb. Anyone in here can say that, and we don't care what you gave your family members for their bday, ok.
No one can deny the iphone's success. It will not be successful if it's not a great device. No one will buy it for its if it's indeed crappy, ok. And please don't bring up features because not all of them are useful for everyone. That's why apps are the way to go.
Stop your paranoia . Apple did not intend to leak their own protoype. And even if they did. If no one cared about the iphone, no one would bother with it. Apple deactivated it as soon as they found out its lost. That's why it wasn't working.
This is not about which phone you prefer to use buddy. That's irrelevant. It's about the iphone's success that you cannot take because it's not your preferred device :)

Anonymous, 15 Jul 2010The iphone4 is undoubtedly the best smartphone to date.
... moreAre u serous ? Closest to perfection ? U still call it a phone too ? .. I had an Iphone 3GS which i gave to my little brother, As a phone its horrible, As a multimedia device its amazing, thats why i bought an ipod touch.
I used to be an Iphone user and still i don't think it deserves to be in the phone section to start with. If u want to compare phones use facts, and when u do that ull see the ton of features missing that are available on other phone for e.g. Android.
About the Media part, do u know that its meant by Apple for the Iphone 4 to leak around ? i dont think u knew that. Seriously found in a bar ? Seriously leaked in Vietnam ? lets not forget that it was not working, just a case for the media and people to see, and if badly comment on it. Remember in the keynote Steve mentioned that some people said that device is not Apple's making, well how did he know ? (Hint)
I have 3 phones now which i prefer, Nexus one, Nokia E72, Blackberry Bold 9700. Ill stop using the Nexus one, cause i need the 3G video calling in the E72, but still the Nexus one is really good.

The iphone4 is undoubtedly the best smartphone to date.
Just look at all the attention it's getting. The exaggerations, hate, media attack, and speculations surrounding it.
The thing that cracks me up the most though is. A lot of the complaints are coming from non iphone users and the media blowing issues out of proportion.
For haters. Overall, the iphone4 is the closest thing to perfection. From its design to its UI to its OS to its implementation of features. Still, it's not a perfect phone. And any issue, regardless how small it may be, haters would bank on that and dwell on that for dear life. Repeating it over and over and over again when they are not even experiencing or have nothing to do whatsoever with those issues because they are non iphone users, while real iphone users are quite happy with their iphones.
As for the media. They know that anything about Apple sells. They know that they could get a lot of readers if they post anything about Apple. Why do you think Gizmodo went through all that trouble just to get hold of a prototype? Media is all about getting more readers. More readers would mean more ad revenues for them. At the expense of Apple. That's why you also see articles repeating the same issues over and over and over again. Worse, the media make those issues look as serious as world war 4. Making catchy headline titles, but when you read the story, it's the same one as the other article. But in reality, users are enjoying their iphones. Even Consumer Reports are dwelling on the issue and is getting some good attention.
In the end. Apple will prevail. I say that because honest iphone users are having a wonderful experience with their iphones :)
