Apple and HTC have a "not so secret" agreement. That's why they are borrowing elements of design and more from each other without the fear of being sued.
Unfortunately, HTC never had the financial power of Samsung or Apple or Huawei so they will never be able to compete in the current market dominated by those above and cheap Chinese phones.
As a big HTC fan since Tytn II i'm more than sad, but, as the others stated, it doesn't matter how good your product is if it's overpriced, you can never compete in today's market if you have that ridiculous price. For example, I was more than excited by the M7, but I didn't want to spend that money for a 4 UMP phone. I have bought a second-hand one 3 years later, but as a secondary phone, not as my primary power-horse and just for its design and Sense interface.
My feeling is that, when the time will come, HTC will become Apple's brand in Android market ;) .

I actually find it surprising, how company with such heritage and technological capital ... cannot make a single worthy phone for 3rd year now. The last phone which was (at the time) innovative and trendy was HTC One M7, at the time even mid range was kind off sensible, maybe not ideal, but rightly priced. Obviously, recent year were hard for all Android makers, especially pressure for chinese and indian manufacturers.... but it is only HTC which still cannot find an answer. It cannot be that hard... split phones in few clearly defined and simple lines, low end, mid end, high end and importantly defined flagship.. Give each line few screen sizes just in case, showcase you whole potential in flagship... Finally, if you in position behind Samsung (which is not rare) at least price your devices sensibly... so that somebody at least give them some kind of consideration. Now HTC trying to charge Samsung price of some junk, half baked phone, with some incremental updates since original flagship 3 years ago.. obviously that won't go well. Not for any other company but crapple.. only crapple can charge money for nothing because of kind of "fashion" which cannot be explained by logic. Now HTC - get real .. you are not apple, you don't have, if you want to exist on this planet you need to work for it and deliver real results and competitive products.

And still they want to make money with a phone that costs more than an iPhone and offers less than a Galaxy S7 >.

I'm getting the 10 on the 18th of this month, it's too good a device not to get, it's a beast of a phone.

Also I think the Vive is dead in the water, it's far too expensive, you also need a full room to really use it for it's potential, it's one of those devices that you look back on when something has been released and say "It's kind of like the vive" but it's never going to be more than that.

Space is a commodity that a lot of people simply don't have. Shame really, as it is a great device.

This'll change soon with the 10 - but they really should try to release their flagship same time as Samsung & LG to try to capture some of that market.
Besides -all the Nexus fanboys are waiting for their upcoming device. That's always a guaranteed earner.
Keep on keeping on HTC - brighter times ahead ;)
