Anonymous, 18 Jul 2010Garmin can be installed and it doesnt require a data plan.Of course you can download apps like Garmin w/out a data plan. But is Garmin the only reason why you would buy an iphone? Lol. Gosh.

[deleted post]You could download Fring and videocall over 3G, you know, like you do with other phones.
Did you know that you can switch from a normal call over a phone network (paying for it) to a facetime call over WiFi (not paying for it), pretty cool huh?

Anonymous, 18 Jul 2010Yes, it is stupid. Why the need to drag them into this issu... moreWell if you think that it's stupid of Apple to drag other phonemakers in the death grip issue, don't you think it's stupid as well for everyone to single out the iphone like it's the only phone with the death grip issue? See how biased you are? You're totally fine for everyone to attack Apple on a widespread issue among all phones, but you don't like it when Apple reveals that it is a fact of life with all cell phones.

anon, 17 Jul 2010can you post a video of E71 losing 5 bars as u claim (joke/lie). Anon,
Here is a video of the signal issues with the Nokia E71, it was common knowledge some time ago among E71 users...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_8VJgv294Zs
There are more videos available on YouTube on the same problem with the E71, you can do a search on YouTube...
The problem is that the E71 has the antenna in the bottom of the phone, so even a normal style of holding it will make the signal drop. It's not just Nokia, it also affects Blackberry, HTC etc...
The problem is not visible in areas with good signal strength, happens only where the signal is weaker..
Once I record a video of my E71 losing signal, I'll send you that too.
Cheers,
AVMax

Anonymous, 18 Jul 2010The point here is that Apple is using its own troubles to b... moreHow did Apple bash other phonemakers? Apple had to give examples to prove to the media that the iphone is not the only phone that suffers from signal drops when held the wrong way. So why are they going to prove that it they do not show other phones doing the same thing? It is not fair either for the media to single out the iphone for a common problem with every phone. That is not cool either. What's more uncool is, nokia releasing a press release after the death grip issue came out saying that their users can hold their phone however way they want as if their phones don't have weak spots as well. Now that's uncool.

You need to pull over and look for a hotspot? Nice. How convenient. As for those with a data plan. You can check emails, web browse, blog, do social network, use apps, etc. That's the convenience of having an iphone and using it for its worth, otherwise, you're better off getting cheap alternatives with wifi.
