A thorough study need to be executed immediately on the external EXPOSED antenna effects to human being.
The exposed antenna would also be a high risks to users when pumping gas station.

iphone4fan, 18 Jul 2010My point, there isn't an issue. Steve said its the most adv... moreAnd what exacly is the "right" way to hold a phone? Is there also a "right" way to eat an apple, or a "right" way to sit on a couch? Where is this universal authority which dictates the "correct" and "incorrect" method to hold a phone? I understand many mobiles come with a message telling it's customers not to put their hands over the antenna, so what is the difference between Apple and the other phones? The difference is that even if you do cover up the antenna with your hand, signal loss is minimal, whereas with the iPhone4, you lose a big chunck of reception and even may dissconnect from the network.

"Apple's attempt to draw RIM into Apple's self-made debacle is unacceptable. Apple's claims about RIM products appear to be deliberate attempts to distort the public's understanding of an antenna design issue and to deflect attention from Apple's difficult situation. RIM is a global leader in antenna design and has been successfully designing industry-leading wireless data products with efficient and effective radio performance for over 20 years. During that time, RIM has avoided designs like the one Apple used in the iPhone 4 and instead has used innovative designs which reduce the risk for dropped calls, especially in areas of lower coverage. One thing is for certain, RIM's customers don't need to use a case for their BlackBerry smartphone to maintain proper connectivity. Apple clearly made certain design decisions and it should take responsibility for these decisions rather than trying to draw RIM and others into a situation that relates specifically to Apple."

iphone4fan, 18 Jul 2010Interesting to see the other phones have really bad signals... moreA FREE case iphone4fan?....you don't say....That is great news!!!
It sounds like you have hit the freakin' lottery my friend.
What are you gonna do with that awesome case of yours??
You could use it as a a coaster, or a picture frame, or a bracelet...OR, you could use it to get a better reception on a $800.00 mobile..LOL
Steve Jobs really looks after his consumers. I mean, he makes this "revolutionary" aerial antenna, but sadly, it doesn't even work, & even though he says it DOES work, (despite the thousands upon thousands of consumer complaints & videos showing it doesn't work) he still called a press conference to tell consumers that since the iPhone4's aerial antenna does indeed do such a wonderful job, you now have an option to get a free bumper case!!
Woohoo!!!
It sounds like his defective aerial antenna is starting to irradiate iPhone4 users brains, thus rendering them zombies incapable of any reasoning & logic.
Even though during his press conference he showed other smart-phones that while being tightly gripped had antennas that lost bars, these mobiles have no history of dropping calls on a consistent basis like the iPhone4 does.
When a mobile fails to do the number one thing it was intended to do such as placing & receiving class, it is an epic failure...no matter how many were sold.

I think and feel that Steve Jobs is the best marketing individual in this planet .... you can check his antenna press conference on 16th July 2010 in Apple site ...
1st, he asked the users not to grip the phone in such a way ....
2nd, he tried to change physics by SW update
I guess if there will be no coverage, but using updated SW -> it shows good signal coverage. I guess it would make Apples relationship worst with AT&T, as end customer will point the finger to AT&T then. And the idea was skipped.
3rd, today in the press conference he was proving that every Smartphones have weak spots, like iphone 4 ...
http://www.apple.com/antenna/ ..... comparing with Blackberry Bold 9700, HTC .. and Samsung smartphone ... anyway none of the smartphones (3 NOKIA models, 4 Blackberry models, One Samsung) in my home have got the trouble in a way what was showed in the video.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VKIcaejkpD4 .... iphone antenna song … it’s a cool way to recall the product
4th, today he provided a solution to use a bumper (or casing) ... it makes more sense now.
That’s for sure; he will not mention that the problem is related with the aggressive industrial design for such a complicated wireless device (with 7 or 8 radio) -> using phone outer case or structure metal as antenna without any non-conductive material coating. iphone 4 antenna simply changes its physical length when gripping on the weak spot as human body is not like insulator. Therefore antenna has got different resonance frequency than what it should get. This is very simple
And for this, Apple doesn’t need 18 antenna scientists/engineers with PhD degree and 100$ million worth of antenna chambers.
The data or statistics what he provided today -> those sound nice, but not close to reality! Steve Jobs is just making us fool.

Very funny comments, Im an Iphone 3gs user and I love my 3gs but i definitely wont buy Iphone 4 within its 1st 6 months. i will buy that next year when all its troubles are gone... i know apple will fix this problem soon. And to all phone users you are all aware that the first few months of launching a new product, there is always problems... like when I bought my sony ericsson xperia x1 I experienced bad wifi and 3g connections and cracking case. When I bought my nokia 5800 I experience very bad touch screen.

[deleted post]After watching the conference all i saw was faulty phones from other lesser brands failing
Not at 1 point did they show an apple phone with that problem,
Maybe they tried to get it to fail, but couldn't so they didn't put
it showing it with the other phones.
I agree with apple, no issue, but having a case is great, more so been free.

What I don't like with Apple is that the first time it's seems they don't agree their error and finally decided to act because so many people complained.
Business is fast nowadays with technology and a big company like Apple has the manner to react fast also and make the customers confident.
Because of this case I start losing my confidence in Apple products, it's not serious.
Hope this will be a lesson for Apple and the other upcoming companies to react faster.
