Apple has record breaking quarter, iPhone and Mac sales up

21 July, 2010
The iPhone 4's controversial antenna may experience drops in signal, but there's no dropping when it comes to Apple's financial results. They exceeded even Apple's own expectations leading them to break all...

Actually Iphone sales are down. From 8.7M units Q4/2009 to 8.75M units in the first quarter 2010 to 8.4M units in the second quarter. And it could have been worse if they hadn't released the Iphone4 just before the end of June to up their numbers.
Apples only phone is seriously getting slammed by the increasingly popular Blackberry and Android OS which is having the strongest growth.
Hopefully Nokia will be back in the game the end of third quarter.

@GSMARENA : Please stop copy-pasting from Apples website, they don't tell the whole story

Not so easy for Steve Job to admit and announce to the whole world that Iphone4 has a defect. I believe he is under lots of stress.

Remember .... Apple only has one phone product ... Iphone3GS but it is getting old and people..the Apple fanboys, Telcos, App developers, games developers, are waiting for Iphone4.

Apple puts all most of the eggs in one basket which is the iphone4. His businees model does not allow a single product failure!!!! Not like Nokia, Samsung, SonyEricsson, Motorola, HTC where they have multiple products.

Imagine ..... admit defect ... recall 3 million phone on the streets.... stop production ..... re-design the phone's antenna .... another 6mths to 9mths delay .... unable to fullfill contract/order from big telcos....pay LD (Liquidated Damage) ???? ... Dissapoint all the Apple Fanboys is loosing the brand image and loosing brand image is loosing big bucks$$$ for Apple...... what about the App Store ... people sreduce patronising the App Store .... revenue down from App Store ... loosing $$$ again. How about the Iadvertisement in IOS4 ... Telcos will be dissappointed they cannot earn $$$ from advertisement and data traffic ..... Telco loose confident on Apple products .... Oh ... Foxxcon .... all their manufacturing line running day and night, stockpiling up the Iphone4 ... stop production???

so on and so on ......... I can't imagine that.

He will be kick out of the board if he admit defect in Iphone4. Anyway the investors... won't allow that to happen.

What he can do now if to blame others(Nokia, Samsung, Motorola, RIM ....etc) and be ready to put up a fight in the court.... Apple has very good lawyers and they have cash to go to court .... court case usually drags for years... by then, people on the street will forget the incident.

Now he need to buy some time ...... giving free cases which cost Apple on USD$1.00 ... cheap and good idea... isn't it

In the meantime, their top engineers will look for a solution to patch up the antenna design flaw .... maybe a thick layer of teflon coating at the side, I think should do the magic. Then secretly or not secretly cut in to the production and out it goes to the market. Well ...not all user will experience the drop call ...even so ... not all will request for a product refund. So it is a good bet that they don't admit the mistake at all

Well ..... we will see how things turn out .... Good Luck Apple ... Stay healthy Steve Job....

This could be true. There would be increase in Sales or Income but the true results of their perfomance not totally rely on these data.

*Here, I fixed it for you*

Reality distortion field (RDF) is a term coined by Bud Tribble at Apple Computers in 1981, to describe it's effect on Apple haters. Later the term has also been used to refer to perceptions of his keynote (or Stevenote) by observers and devoted users of any products apart from Apples

Bud Tribble claimed that the term came from Star Trek.

In essence, RDF is the idea that ihaters are able to convince themsevles and others to believe almost any bad rumours or conspiracy theories made up about Apple. RDF is said to distort an audience's sense of proportion or scales. Small advances are accused as copying. Interesting developments become faults, or huge leaps backwards. Snap judgments about technical merits without any facts are usually utilised. Those who use the term RDF contend that it is not an example of outright deception but more a case of warping the powers of judgment. The term "audience" may refer to an individual who a rival company is hoping to affect.

The term is rarely assumed to be a derogatory remark to criticize Apple's products and its more enthusiastic fans, but this is just a fallacy made up by the jealous, who, envious of the media coverage and popularity of Apple's products, unknowingly become victim to RDS themselves.

The term has extended in fanyboydom to other phone owners and fanboys, who try to convince people that Apple is evil, and that the huge success of it's products is irrelevent, sometimes without regard to the overall facts in question.
