Apple squeezes the reception out of Nokia N97 mini

21 July, 2010
Apple seem keen to prove other smartphones have the same reception attenuation as the iPhone 4. And they are getting back with a video of Nokia N97 mini that suffers from the same grip of death as the iPhone...

That is a patently false accusation... If the N97 suffered from the same issue it would have been known. Nokia may not be big in America, but they're huge everywhere else and I haven't heard one Nokia user complain about signal strength before. Apple should just shut up and take the flak. They deserve it for not concluding work on the phone before releasing it with all the hype. The phone has a lot of other features that can and do engage potential customers, but trying to throw dirt on other phone companies has irreparably damaged their reputation in my eyes... No more apple products for me.

to iphone4 lovers/pro iphone here..whatever you call yourself..

when would you accept the fact the iphone4 is a failure???

when would you accept the fact that SJ has manipulated you all???

                its all over the news..CNN..BBC..FOX...

the delay apple made on the white iphone4, corroborates all that has been said and done by apple and its critiques( its a failure).

pity to those who are trying to convice ihpone4 "haters" that they are wrong..pity more to those owners(iphone4) i think you all know why.

mature company with mature individuals leading the company: toyota
they had issues with their cars, they pulled those freaking cars back from their dealers! fixed the damn cars! & no they didn't point their hands at honda/chevrolet/nissan/volvo/bmw/mercedez...NONE! they accepted their mistakes & corrected it even though their reputation won't be the same as before...but hey, at least they fixed it without crying like a baby!

a new to market-phone company with a nut case leading the company: apple
they had issues with their iphone4, they didn't pull their phones back, fix? oh no no, "our consumers are so dumb that a free case will shut them up, trust me ;)" (& it worked!)...& just to divert global consumers attention from apple lets point fingers at other companies! yes, that should make the situation better! oops! didn't work the way we expected, darn it!

There is an application for Nokia N97 mini (and other S60 5th) that can help you to simulate death-grip. Not that useful but anyway fun to try. :)

I was quite shocked to see the behavior of phone companies( specially Apple) over the last few days, so I decided to call a few friends over with a N97 mini, APPLE iphone 4 , SAMSUNG wave, Htc HD2, MOTOROLA DEXT, a blackberry, LG Viewty(new one) and Sony XPERIA X10 and test out the claims for ourselves.

We were quite shocked to see how dramatically the towers on the phones fell when the phones were held in certain positions.

However none of phones had a call drop except IPHONE 4. That explained us the reason for aggression of Apple. Yes there is nothing as a perfect phone but Apple must accept that when it comes to reception issues , it is standing at the end of the line.

And now I have hearing that no IPHONES 4 in white color till xmas.huh. Somebody is trying to sought out some serious issues. lol.

For all iphone user that still don't know how serious Apple problem were:

                                  1. Apple problem is user can lightly touch the phone, and the phone dead. it's just like when i touch your nose, and you can't breath. but the other phone, you need to make sure you cover the hole nostril. In which mean, APPLE DESIGN WERE FLAWED
                                  2. Apple continually to lie, and lie and lie and lie about the severe of the problem.
                                  3. Apple were not a company that care about their user, their goal is to maximize their profit as much as possible. They sold a US$187 junk for US$1000.

so, I really think that iphone fans need to calm down and think how fool they were all this time.

I give you a link that show how bad the problem in iphone4. This article is made by the well known consultant in Telecommunication industry. http://communities-dominate.blogs.com/brands/2010/07/so-the-reality-check-on-apples-iphone-complaints-numbers.html

And here is part of his article... be sure to read the full article. It's really good... I quote:
                                  "THE COMPLAINTS OF 0.55%

Apple said 0.55 % of iPhone 4 users have called to complain about the antenna problems. Across 3 million sold iPhones, that is 16,500 people who have called Apple to complain. So my first immediate screaming observation is that this is perceived as a connection problem - the network connection was dropped, a call was dropped. Who do you call to complain about it? The first point of complaint will be the mobile operator (AT&T etc)

But yeah, 16,500 people have called Apple to complain. Is that a big number or small? Remember a car maker called Toyota? They had this nasty problem earlier this year, called 'unintended acceleration' which seemed to trouble several Toyota and Lexus models. It was really big in the news, as 52 people were killed in accidents involving those vehicles. How many total complaints have there been about Toyota and Lexus venicles in America in the full duration of that problem, from January to June? According to the US highways safety board, the NHTSA - the total number of complaints about Toyota and Lexus vehicles was 1,500. Thats it. Over six months, its an average of 8 per day.

Now fast forward to July of 2010. Apple says that in 22 days, they have received 16,500 complaints about iPhone Death Grip! Thats 750 per day! This is nearly 100 times more complaints daily, than the most famous consumer product failure in recent memory! Is Apple's problem 'real' or is it 'imagined'? Is it trivially small, or is it enormous? Obviously it is one of the biggest consumer product failures in recent memory. And by a mile, the worst phone launch. These 16,500 complaints were generated in the first 22 days, where it will easily take many days for a consumer to notice the problem - then to observe it is a 'pattern' rather than a one-time random event - and then to go call AT&T first, and then after those moments to turn to Apple and call. The real problem is FAR bigger than this what Apple now kindly reports to us.

How does that compare with the industry. HTC has provided its complaints level of the smartphone Apple mentioned in its press conference, the HTC Desire/Legend/Nexus One. How many complaints? Try 0.016%. Or one complaint per 6,250 phones.

Meanwhile Apple who tries to say everybody has the same problem, also told us that 20% of iPhone 4 buyers had a case or band. These won't be able to experience the problem. How bad is Apple's problem. The 0.55% is not from 100 phones, you have to remove the 20% who have the case. So its from 80 phones. So Apple has one complaint call per 145 iPhone 4 models sold!

Is this a fair comparison? As HTC says, Apple has 35 times more complaints than HTC. And HTC's product has been on the market for 9 months, so there is plenty of time for buyers to examine the product and find out all possible problems - still only one complaint per 6,250 smartphones. If we assume HTC has sold 3 million of those devices (to keep the math the same as the iPhone, probably HTC has sold less than this number) - that would be 480 complaints in total over 9 months, or 2 complaints per day.

In just 3 weeks of use, Apple owners have already found so much of a problem, 1 in 145 will call Apple to complain. And yeah, it is 750 complaints per day!. Apple problem is nearly 400 times worse than that of HTC's smartphones."
