Apple squeezes the reception out of Nokia N97 mini

21 July, 2010
Apple seem keen to prove other smartphones have the same reception attenuation as the iPhone 4. And they are getting back with a video of Nokia N97 mini that suffers from the same grip of death as the iPhone...

This is ridiculous. You iPhone fans are ridiculous. Jobs lacks maturity, & is behaving like a child who didn't get what they wanted.

How many different ways can it be said? It is this simple:

All phones will experience some degree of attenuation...BUT, the iPhone4 experiences it so badly, that the signal COMPLETELY drops, & reverts to "Searching for service".

At any point during any one of Jobs' pathetic experiment, did anyone see any of the mobiles he tested revert to "Searching for Service"???

That's what I thought.

Now take your over-priced iPod, hook it up to that piece of junk of malware, iTunes, & try & drown out your contempt.

Gosh you're so silly.  You think it's not fair when your nokia device is held the wrong way, but you think it is when the ip4 is held the wrong way.

      3year term + iphone(locked)= 3000

      plan + nokia(unlocked)=2000

the fact as well that nokia doesn't subsidize their phones is the thing that stands part

you must look at all these factors as well

Again, no one's saying that attenuation doesn't exist here. You're grasping for straws.

Reality distortion field (RDF) is a term coined by Bud Tribble at Apple Computers in 1981, to describe it's effect on Nerds. Later the term has also been used to refer to perceptions of his keynote (or Stevenote) by observers and devoted users of any products apart from Apples'

Bud Tribble claimed that the term came from Star Trek.

In essence, RDF is the idea that nerds are able to convince themsevles and others to believe almost any bad rumours or conspiracy theories made up about Apple. RDF is said to distort an audience's sense of proportion or scales. Small advances are accused as copying. Interesting developments become faults, or huge leaps backwards. Snap judgments about technical merits without any facts available are usually utilised. Those who use the term RDF contend that it is not an example of outright deception but more a case of warping the powers of judgment. The term "audience" may refer to an individual who a rival company is hoping to affect.

The term was assumed by a few nerds to be a derogatory remark, to criticize Apple's products and its more enthusiastic fans, but this is just a fallacy made up by the nerds themselves, who, envious of the media coverage and popularity of Apple's products, unknowingly became victim to RDS themselves.

The term has extended in fanboydom to other phone owners and fanboys, who try to convince people that Apple is evil, and that the huge success of it's products is irrelevent, sometimes without regard to the overall facts in question.

              Success breeds contempt.

I don't think there will be a fix for your phone, as you have the de-tuning problem, as well as the attenuation. You should send your phone back.
