Anybody who thinks this phone has good battery life should do one of the following:
-See your optometrist
-Check yourself into a mental hospital
-Learn how to count
-Look at S7 Edge (Exynos) endurance rating
-Look at Z3 Compact endurance rating
-Look at Z3 endurance rating
-Look at Z2 endurance rating

AnonD-538833, 18 May 2016Yes, I have the courage to say other people fanboy especial... moreFinally, someone with brains....
Content much affects videplayback and even browsing batterylife when comparing oled and lcd devices.
Thats why some reviewers use different standard batterytests and get 5h OST on z5, and only 4h OST on galaxy s7....
For a 2600 maH battery on a 5 incher, this is outstanding result.
And as report says, by their new testing it stands along galaxy s7, htc10, lg g5 and huawei p9 in browsing time...
Which today is I guess most important battery drainer

Snapdragon 650 seems to be faster than snapdragon 808. So Xperia X should be faster than LG G4

AnonD-538833, 18 May 2016Yes, I have the courage to say other people fanboy especial... moreYou're the one not reading the article. The endurance rating is based on 4 things, web browsing, video playback, calling, and standby. After taking that into account the phone does significantly worse than the s7. After you remember that calling is disproportionally weighted (nobody uses their phone to call as much as other stuff anymore) then you'd realise in reality the xperia x does even worse than the endurance rating implies because that was the only thing it did good at.
Gsmarena are just being nice to the poor phone. If you learned to read the numbers yourself you'd see that.

AnonD-137201, 18 May 2016Wow... and you really have the courage to call someone a fa... moreYes, I have the courage to say other people fanboy especially if that person repeatedly post negative comment about certain brand. That guy is a troll and its not the first time he posted the same crap over and over again on Sony article.
The point is the reviewers are impressed with the battery life of X. And they specifically explain why you shouldn't hung on to the number as number doesn't tell the whole story of the battery life of X.
Regarding battery life test of oled display, I stand corrected, while oled display is good for video-battery life test it usually depend of the content. If video has lots of dark scene oled display will consume much lower power but if the video has lots of brighter scene chances are lcd will be doing good. I remember reading a anandtech article about their battery life test produce of video test. They acknowledge that Harry Potter movie scene they used for testing battery life gives oled display much for advantage because Harry Potter movie has lots of dark scene.
I agree with people here that putting smaller battery is not a good trend. And Sony should reverse their decision. But saying that battery life of X is a joke while the reviewers are actually impressed with the result is behavior of a hater and a troll. And this is not the first time he post this kind of shi^^y comment here. So calling him a dumb fanboy is a justified action.

but still i would rather get former flagship like Z3+,Z5,G4 or M9 those are awesome devices for a lot less money ...

67 hour is not bad for phone based on 28nm chip, but its lagging behind for a 2016 phone. X performance being made on 14nm chip should do slightly better, but not expecting much.
I don't get why Sony would reduce there battery, when every other company are either increasing or keeping it same as previous generation. It seems as if Sony is aiming for certain level of battery life and if it can achieve it with smaller battery then they're gonna do so.

You are the one defending a brand like crazy here.
Ps.: You wrote the word Samsung more than anyone here... haha
About the test, Sony is reducing the size of the bateries over and over, and there is no miracle here. You can make the stand by time a lot better, like Apple, but when you actually use the phone with the screen on it will die faster...
And everybody knows that on video playback AMOLED screens are much better on saving power, not just when you have dark scenes.

But seriously, a modern smartphone isn't typically used to talk for one hour a day. It certainly isn't used to the same extent as web browsing or using apps or whatever. Gsmarena should change the test to reflect modern usage IMO. But once they try to do that it becomes too subjective so they're probably better off not.

AnonD-442781, 18 May 2016So why is the overall endurance rating worse than the z5, a... moreNumber do lie. And this battery life test is the prime example how number lies.
I say you read the whole article. They clearly stated that - "The raw endurance rating doesn't tell the whole story, though." They also concluded at the end of the article that - " Sony did a great job with the Xperia X. It even improved on the respectable Z5 battery life."
If you actually bother to read the article then you would have understand it why they said xperia x has impressive battery life.
Xperia X was tested with new procedure at 200 nits while z5 was tested at 90 nits. brightness. It has comparable battery life to other flagship phone released this year. Only lose significantly to S7's video test, which is likey due to the content of the video. If the video has lots of dark scene then amoled screen benefit from it. Most likely it is why S7 had such a led while the actually performance is pretty comparable in real life just like Team at GSMarena concluded at the end of the article.

AnonD-287672, 18 May 2016That is because they're testing phones on a standard 200 ni... moreThat wouldn't have had much of a change. And it still doesn't change that overall Sony's battery life has been getting worse gradually since 2014. The z5 was worse than the z3, and now this years phones will be worse too, double brightness on one test which is only influenced by brightness wouldn't change much.
And it doesn't change that Samsung has comparatively shot ahead of Sony since two years ago. Good battery life used to be a selling point of Sony's phones, but you'd be crazy to claim it still is.
