WELL SAID MY FRIEND...
mature company with mature individuals leading the company: toyota
they had issues with their cars, they pulled those freaking cars back from their dealers! fixed the damn cars! & no they didn't point their hands at honda/chevrolet/nissan/volvo/bmw/mercedez...NONE! they accepted their mistakes & corrected it even though their reputation won't be the same as before...but hey, at least they fixed it without crying like a baby!
a new to market-phone company with a nut case leading the company: apple
they had issues with their iphone4, they didn't pull their phones back, fix? oh no no, "our consumers are so dumb that a free case will shut them up, trust me ;)" (& it worked!)...& just to divert global consumers attention from apple lets point fingers at other companies! yes, that should make the situation better! oops! didn't work the way we expected, darn it!

yeah other phones loose signal too, but other companies dont only come out with one phone every 100 years. iphones have been so far behind in technology and now they actually come out with one that is almost up to date and this. with how long they take to make and release phones and only are up to four they should have one the most advanced and flawless phones around and this is what you get. then they just throw the blame else where.

[deleted post]But the title is deceiving. It seemed like they have something new to say. Ends up to be an old story. Oh well, Apple sells. That's the only reason why they dwell on this.

This is old news. We, and Apple, already know that the ip4 has a weak spot. I say more sensitive than the others, but it all phones do have it.
We also know that antennagate does not necessarily drop a call unless you are already in an area with a poor signal.
We also know that the signal drop does not happen in areas where there's strong signal.
We also know that avoiding that weak spot would also avoid the antennagate.
We also know that getting a case fixes the problem.
Awareness, is an important aspect here. Identifying the issue and knowing how to deal with it. It's whether you can deal with it or not, or is it worth it or not. It's your choice.
This really has to stop.

I think and feel that Steve Jobs is the best marketing individual in this planet .... you can check his antenna press conference on 16th July 2010 in Apple site ...
1st, he asked the users not to grip the phone in such a way ....
2nd, he tried to change physics by SW update
I guess if there will be no coverage, but using updated SW -> it shows good signal coverage. I guess it would make Apples relationship worst with AT&T, as end customer will point the finger to AT&T then. And the idea was skipped.
3rd, today in the press conference he was proving that every Smartphones have weak spots, like iphone 4 ...
http://www.apple.com/antenna/ ..... comparing with Blackberry Bold 9700, HTC .. and Samsung smartphone ... anyway none of the smartphones (3 NOKIA models, 4 Blackberry models, One Samsung) in my home have got the trouble in a way what was showed in the video.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VKIcaejkpD4 .... iphone antenna song … it’s a cool way to recall the product
4th, today he provided a solution to use a bumper (or casing) ... it makes more sense now.
That’s for sure; he will not mention that the problem is related with the aggressive industrial design for such a complicated wireless device (with 7 or 8 radio) -> using phone outer case or structure metal as antenna without any non-conductive material coating. iphone 4 antenna simply changes its physical length when gripping on the weak spot as human body is not like insulator. Therefore antenna has got different resonance frequency than what it should get. This is very simple
And for this, Apple doesn’t need 18 antenna scientists/engineers with PhD degree and 100$ million worth of antenna chambers.
The data or statistics what he provided today -> those sound nice, but not close to reality! Steve Jobs is just rubbish.

Billy, 26 Jul 2010I am not apple user but go and discuss something else. This... moreIt has been reported ad nauseum, but as more and more of this comes to light, I can't help but think that Apple just really, truly doesn't care about its customers. They've spun this issue as much as I have ever seen a company do, and it is just disgusting.

i own an ipod touch cause its probably the best mp3/video player out there...own a mac pro coz i like the unibody built quality & features as a laptop BUT i'm neither blind nor dumb enough to not know that there always have been a better phone in market every single time an iphone comes out...1st 1 no video no bluetooth transfer, basic stuff that i need but hey people still bought it...n now, can't even make a damn call by holding the phone the way i held a phone from childhood? what are we going backwards in technology apple? or you think people will buy anything you produce? well, the latter is true to some extent cause i still see people lining up at 4am in the morning! either they're homeless or they're the guinea pigs that were successfully brainwashed by apple!

silly people, 26 Jul 2010the easy solution is not to hold it on the gap, simple and ... moreSo ur saying that we shouldn't come close to the gap, well unless u grab ur phone by 2 fingers from above then I think ull look really awkward. We held and touched our phones how ever we like, slept on them, gripped them no matter how and no problems, and now u want us to keep notice that there is somewhere in the phone that we shouldn't touch ?! Is it made from rare diamonds ? I should be worried each time I grab my fone ? Even in browsing or watching youtube I should watch out because if touched that gap, it will seriously slow down the experience and even make go to flat zeros in terms of upload and download kpbs. U want a company to teach people how to grab phones ? I really dnt understand wat u people think.

Oh so test show u the truth, poor people who claim that its a media blow out and an exaggeration, well I guess tests should break ur thick Apple manipulated minds.
That proves Steve is misleading, come on just say "its our fault" and recall, so simple like other manufacturers do, straight forward, and truthful. NO exaggeration.

I guess every 'consumer report' like testing company wants a bit of free publicity and flaming Apple is an easy way to do it.. Come on.. The issue can't be that bad... There are also reports from actual users that this phones reception is _better_ than their prior phones'. I guess if you happen to be in a bad reception area where you have shit reception to begin with you're not better of with a 4.. but so what? We all live in big city's right?
