I Love Blackberry,i've always been a loyal user.I was considering upgrading my 8310 curve, but unfortunately i'm not going to buy this blackberry, since in UAE,where i live,Blackberry services have been banned. And Blackberry without it's services is like coffee without sugar. So i've considered buying a Samsung I9000 Galaxy S,somewhere around the last week of august.

If it is, then indeed it is a concern. Agreed there are bound to be some bugs in the software, but there again BB got it so wrong with the Storm, (on balance of popular opinion) they surely cannot risk upsetting more people corportate or otherwise. Therefore one would hope they spent some time ironing out any hitches.
Anyone with factual info on the CPU or indeed the internet speed??

"While I think this phone looks behind the times in terms of specs, would it not be fairer to say that it is not actually about ulitmate specs but overall functionality and security? If so then this phone may well have a place."

1st off...For "overall functionality and security" yes it has its place but still a tough argument for markets outside of NA where it will surely be "curiously" priced against better equipped competing phones.PRICE is the biggest factor corporate uptake for full enterprise deployment notwithstanding.

To be fair I don't think people (well of course the more vocal ones can be ridiculously unrealistic) would have really griped about the phone's CPU clock speed too much if it weren't so suspiciously behind the curve....I've seen a post somewhere where some mentioned that the 624Mhz CPU used in Torch aren't of the usual ARM 11 but instead the older ARM 9 variant.Wrong CPU generation can't be saved by clock speed alone.RIM could have opted for the Cortex A8 family and still keep the 600Mhz threshold without killing performance since that thing are also OpenGL compliant.2 birds stoned...

But then there's also the high possibility of BB OS 6 in definite need of more polish and optimization.

BlackBerry boring phone. Just for old business people maybe it's a fun good phone. But anyway i don't see any reason to buy that company phone when in a market we got Sony-Ericsson, Nokia, Samsung, HTC, Motorola who do all and got integrated last technology... .

As for globally, they probably wouldn't mind getting more market shares, but are happy with US and Canada.
Nokia should be the one worrying, with Symbian becoming a dinosaur and android growing ... and like you said HTC, Samsung, Apple have definitely given Nokia something to think about, globally.

                                    Hi,

As I said on the official BlackBerry blog, for such a next-generation smartphone, here are some of the features we could have expected for a premium product :

                                    - 1 GHz processor
                                    - 1500mAh battery
                                    - 600x800 pixels screen resolution (considering the ratio of the Torch screen)
                                    - 8 Megapixel camera with 720p HD video recording @ 30 FPS
                                    - Full Flash 10.1 support for the web browser
                                    - Bluetooth v3.0
                                    - 4G support

Apart from full Flash 10.1 and 4G support, these are the premium features that the Samsung Wave I recently got sports, thanks to its fast processor and well optimized OS.

So I would have been happy to get that phone and experience BlackBerry 6. But, withouth premium hardware, I'll stay away from it...

                                    What do you think ?

                                    All The Best,
                                    Jay Key
