Samsung reportedly working on two foldable smartphones; MWC 2017 unveiling tipped

07 June, 2016
One of the two devices sports a 5-inch screen in folded form, with the display size increasing to as large as 8-inch when the handset is unfolded.

AnonD-544473, 07 Jun 2016Samsung must really love scraping the barrel. One of the dumbest comments I've ever read in a long time. Congrats. I'm guessing an iPhone fan?

nice concept. will be interesting to see how it fares in terms of user experience and durability. sony did try it out with a folding device but that didnt work well. but then the tech was not available at the time to have 1 screen completely bent. good to see products like that once a while. makes you forget how boring and similar phones are nowadays.

Since samsung doesn't release a true flagship tablet with top processing power, this foldable device is definitely worth considering if it does come with top specs

Remember that article "Big iPhone redesigns will only happen once every three years from now on, report claims". Look at where Samsung going now. Foldable display! And iphone still dragging the iphone 6 moniker since 2014. Apple can go disappear now.

I don't think it will have a seamless display.

Anonymous, 07 Jun 2016This sort of report that is happening a year from now means... moreWhen you get rumors about upcoming apple developments they are like - "apple will release the phone which is virtually the same as current one, it may have some features which were long on the market and was long pointed out to be lacking" ... oh really.. you don't say... When it comes to Samsung - "They will release 1st in that, and 1st in that, double this, triple that and as well make something unimaginable".. While both reports are far from true, they are almost directly correlated, when launch day comes. Maybe both Samsung and Apple will only deliver half of what is rumored, but that Samsung half is like 4 times more than apple whole..

This sort of report that is happening a year from now means absolutely nothing. Who knows what they will release in a year from now and what sort of failures they will encounter or how their product testing goes. Based on current trends, we probably aren't going to see any sort of foldable smartphones next year.

[deleted post]What issues. It is issues with you very own eyes... Samsung displays ( and that is fact, not my opinion) are the best in the world. There are no issues with them..

Linas, 07 Jun 2016the ones complaining about touchwiz probably have not used ... moreIt's mainly because most people are a bit thick - especially when it comes to technology.

I work in a phoneshop and every day i have a man/woman (sometimes even young ones) coming in saying they are confused about their phones - and it's normally Samsung phones with 8-12 homepages with apps all over the place and original widgets and flipboard on and all that.

It drives me crazy because i have a bit of OCD haha...but it's shocking how many people don't understand that almost everything can be customized on most Android phones. I always tell them that getting to know Android might take an extra 10 minutes than iOS; but once you do, Android is actually much easier and intuitive than iOS (and definitely Windows)...
