I upgraded earlier this week - had to delete various apps and already had a load moved to SD due to the J5's pathetic amount of memory. Eventually cleared the 900MB it wanted by deleting the updates to bloatware apps. Anyway - eventually it installed then spent another few minutes 'optimising' apps. Everything works BUT.... it moved some of the apps back into internal storage. You had to mount the SD card again to see the apps on there. Added to this you loose the ability to move apps to SD card - this option has GONE completely. In theory Marshmallow has the ability to adopt SD memory as internal however Samsung have not allowed this and even trying some of the fixes posted using the adb you still cannot get the SD to be anything other than external storage. I'm not in a position that I cannot load ANY apps without deleting some out of the tiny amount of storage left out the 8GB on board. This upgrade is total rubbish - DON'T UPGRADE.

i started getting notification of a software update around 26th October. As my J5 is rammed with loads of apps it took me a bit of time to free up the space. took the update and a day later I received another software update. I had to clear another load of space and took update again on 30th October. 1st November I received another software update.
What the b****y h**l is going on !

Hey guys, for all those who are stuck on the 'Checking info' bug, I might've found the solution. I've tried everything but only this worked out for me. So, here it goes:
1) Backup your phone data to you micro SD.
2) Turn it off. Remove your SIM Card(s) from your device. Put the battery back in phone.
3) Turn it back on.
4) Apply factory reset through the 'backup and reset' option in 'settings'.
5) Wait until it reboots as a new device.
6) Choose your language. Then at this point, DO NOT CONNECT TO YOUR WiFi ! SKIP THIS STEP WITHOUT CONNECTING.
7) Similarly keep going through all the initial setup until HOME screen comes. Go to settings and connect to your WiFi.
9)Now you must enable installation from 'Unknown Sources'. You will find it like as follows:
Settings>Lock screen and Security>Unknown sources>Enable
10) Now comes the main plot, through your in-phone WEB BROWSER, go to: www.apkmirror.com
11) Find and download Hola VPN. When it asks for permission choose 'ALLOW'.
12) After it downloads, open and run it. When it installs tap it.
13) And here you go! Open your Google Play store through Hola app and login through your previously stuck Gmail account! Install each and every update from there onwards. When it all completes, then you may switch Hola off.
Bear in mind some apps are a bit buggy and may require Hola to configure, but after configuration you can always turn off Hola and use apps through your normal WiFi connection.
P.S Insert your SIM now after this all by turning off your phone and then turning it back on.
Glad to have helped. With love from Pakistan :) Wasalam!

I moved every app to my SD card and disabled some apps to free up enough space, then the install/ download started but it stopped to say that I needed another 1GB of storage on my phone for a 900MB update even though theres plenty of space!!! :(
