exNokiaFan, 20 Aug 2010wow why are you getting hostile.
1. This isn't a nokia ... moreMeeGo. Whatever happened to Maemo? the supposed savior of Nokia? it sure didn't help them at all.
Also to the poster who made a comment about how Nokia is "king" because they sell more phones. You got to take into consideration, how many phones does Nokia have in their portfolio? How many are low end phones because Nokia only has a few "high end" phones. Now take into consideration how many different phones Apple has? 2 basically the Iphone 3GS and the Iphone 4. These are priced higher than Nokia's low end phone so naturally Nokia would sell more. Also another thing, nokia loses in sales and marketshare when you are talking about smartphones.
First of all..... MeeGo is Meemo with an upgrade. The N900 Meemo device will run Meego.
2nd... Apple is not in the lead when considering smartphone...Get your facts right. Nokia are still in the lead even if you consider only smartphones.
And if you compare smartphone OS's... When compared to Symbian, iOS won't even appear of the chart!

Nokia had to announce something different to take the Pressure of the N8,as we still have not got a official release date from Nokia about the release of the N8,as its taking them ages to get Symbian3 an N8 up to date,it seem very odd for Nokia to finally get the N8 finished,an with the C7 an N9 being shown about we will definetly see these mobiles an the Nokia event in London on the September 10th-15th,hope the N9 does not take Nokia ages to get the Meego software an N9 finalised

Anonymous, 20 Aug 2010let the mobile spec come out first.before itself why u r pa... morewow why are you getting hostile.
1. This isn't a nokia N9 forum, this is a comment section on the Nokia N9. Every user has the right to give their opinion on the phone why are you hostile just because one user is pointing out their dislike of nokia?
2. Nokia has a track record of basically just changing the looks of their current phones and calling it their "next gen" phones. Case in point. Nokia E71 = 128MB of Ram, Nokia E72/E73 = 128MB of Ram with a slightly "beefed up" processor. Notice the quotations as it still uses last gen crappy processor. Another Case in point, Nokia N900 sure it upgraded ram and used the cortex A8, but this was after Iphone used the A8. However they kept a crappy resistive touch screen. Look at the N8, 256MB of ram as well? How come companies such as HTC, samsung, motorola, and apple can introduce phones with latest processors and large amounts of RAM which is one key factor to user experience at a price point of less than Nokia? The N9 will most likely be the keyboard version of the N8 running on a different OS as it looks like it was its twin. MeeGo. Whatever happened to Maemo? the supposed savior of Nokia? it sure didn't help them at all.

Anonymous, 20 Aug 2010god! it's really pathetic how this company has turned into ... moreHe you, Mr Smartypants. How many stores do you think Apple would have if they only sold phones. Well? Phones are sold through carriers, or websites, not flagship stores.
Nokia is a true innovator, does major amounts of fundamental research, and Apple, well apple just markets really well.
Sent from my MacBook Pro. Go Nokia!

mk, 20 Aug 2010this is bloody AWESOME, just like StarCraft2... I fail to see how the N9 will be "bloody awesome"? it'll most likely be confined to 256MB of ram, and using a last generation processor with Nokia's "hardware accelerator" that does nothing really. The N9 wasn't 10 years in the making like SC2.

Hi Dwane. Oh I don't know if they'll release a mini. It's hard to say if the N97 started a trend or not. Although probably not as much a trend but a newer device, for less with less. Usually technology always becomes more compact, but for Nokia the N97 Mini over the N97 had some destinguishing lower end features. This gave Nokia another market with which they could create a run down version, a new device that cut down on features on specifications in some way & made it more affordable. So who knows they may be able to bring a cut down version to market. Even the shape of the N97 Mini was smaller than the Bigger older brother N97.
I might be going for the N8. I would prefer to probably stick with debian over linux for now. Symbian^3 will do bring everything I need in my ideal mobile phone. Since Symbian's newer OS is helped by the community as new emerging technologies emerge with the wealth of available tech already into a mobile. Symbian foundation have some amazing ideas from the community which they are considering implementing a way in which to integrate software features, functions which wil use the hardwares already their in a new way never done before. Some brilliant ideas as said are already being considered & worked upno, experimenting with. Consider including in updates or newer releases of Symbian.
(Did you know FACT Symbian Ltd was founded in 1998 by Ericsson, Motorola, Nokia and Psion. Psion, you may recall or not, was big in PDAs - the connectivity-free electronic organisers that preceded smartphones - while Ericsson, Motorola and Nokia dabbled in mobiles. Together they were hoping to capitalise on the convergence of mobiles and PDAs - and Symbian was the resulting lovechild.

god! it's really pathetic how this company has turned into an apple wanna be. it's just sad. it's seriously not surprising this company has lost a HUGE 40% on their profit and that their flasgship stores has been closing down. their 'os' has become for stupid dumbphones. their market share is declining, developers has lost interest on their stupid os. they haven't made a number one phone for almost 4 years. and the fact that apple has already overtook nokia as being the world's most profitable handset maker.
rest in peace nokia. another FAIL device. they took so dam long to make a stupid camera on a stupid phone that they forgot how stupid their 680mhz processor, 256mb ram, 360x640res, and their stupid boring so last year os is. symbian is the biggest fail ever. android is already eating the market.

Coming from someone who owned N80,N91,N91-8GB, N95, N95-8GB, E71,E71x, and N900; i'm pretty sure i'll be disappointed in the N9 as well. Nokia use to be a top cell phone company but these days all they have left is just their name and thats not saying much. Competitors like HTC, Samsung, Apple are throwing out way better phones for similarly priced or better priced than Nokia's flagships and top end phone. I don't feel justified to be spending $549+ on a phone that has only 256MB ram, last generation style OS, and slow processor. Who really cares if Nokia's flagships has one of the best cameras available for cell phones? If i was worried about the quality of the pictures im taking i'll bring a point and shoot camera or a DSLR.

Engineer Man, 19 Aug 2010The N9 will be Nokias best phone to date. The QWERTY keyboa... moreYo Engineer Man nice to see you in here too.
I was wondering what phone you are gonna get the N8 or wait for the N9. Me personally I can't wait any longer and am def getting the N8 as I have had my N95 for 3 years! So I'll prob have that for 2years due to contract.
Also do you think they will make a N9 mini? like they did with the N97 as I would prefer that
