...they are not Droids...they are Android Powered Phones. Droids are only with Verizon...Figure someone who works for GSM Arena would know the difference. This is getting really annoying.
Otherwise...great article! Killer phones. Nice to see the jump in RAM and ROM from the Desire. Great job HTC!

My main worry is the battery life...
i wonder why the manufactures are ignoring.. the concerns of the users about the battery.. atleast it should last 1 day after the rough use..as it is built for continuous usage..

Looks nice but where is the bump up in screen res and quality? The size of the battery on this model is a bit worrying [lots of complaints on Desires battery not lasting a day] HTC please add a little metal to your tired designs.

Anonymous, 15 Sep 2010You're right, HTC are really not great quality. They never ... moreNot every manufacturer can tell about itself that they've created the Dream/G1 (1st market-ready Android device), Nexus One, the 1st "Google phone", or the 1st WinMo device that has this and that...
So it may be more accurate to state that it's only the HTC stuff that puts Android and WinMo on the map.
And oh, like Samsung is any better? Poor build quality, even worse components (I can't name my source but he keeps telling me how many Samsung devices are brought in dead on arrival and not beacause of careless handling and stuff like that). TouchWiz is a nice thing though, for example on the Omnia II - without that I think WinMo is a prehistoric nightmare (with a custom UI it's just a bad dream :)).
I think I can say the same about the Android front: although it's modern and quite user friendly by default, the true tidbits are awaiting for those who pick a phone with a customized rom and imho a HTC with Sense is the best choice. I really liked the Galaxy S, it has so many pros, but then again, the cons... build quality, materials, GSM module problems, poor support ("oh, you didn't bought it at T-Mobile? sorry, ur just out of luck...").
About screen size: your TV, your PC monitor, your laptop/netbook or even your tablet won't fit in your pocket while your mobile phone can. Reading or wathcing a movie from a 3.5" 320*480 device (like the pretty popular iPhone 3G/3GS) is not the best thing on Earth. I have a HD2. It's still not a 50" FullHD LED TV, not even a Dell Streak but at least you can put it in your pocket while providing a nice experience in terms of visual entertainment, surfing the net and general office tasks. (Sigh! That 4.0" of the Galaxy S would be the ideal choice if the device itself was a bit shorter).
About CPU speed: why complaining now? Why not when they announced Snapdragon? Or the HD2? Or back in the middle 1990's when things got out of control in the land of the desktop machines?
Developers may be sloppy, hardware manufacturers may be greedy and have to give something new since they can't sell the same stuff twice in a consumer society but in the end it's us, studip end-users, who can't live without 720p capable phones and 802.11n wifi.
If you can design a low-end/mid-range mobile CPU that can handle the two tasks mentioned above at the same time with great quality (low compression, min. 30fps for the video and the ability to process the amount of data that the 802.11n can handle in real-time) then... well, first of all the GSMArena community will be very proud of you, and you should get to the patent office asap! :)

Hey, I am a guy with normal sized hands, this means when I press a key on these tiny phones I press 4 at a time, I can just manage my iphone 4, I am all for large screens. So up with the HTC 4.3 screens, I would love my iphone more if it had a large screen and did not weigh a ton. tiny phones for ladies fingers ??, HTC screen is great and the weight is good just need to see how easy it is to use.

It's only the Android stuff that put them on the map, away from being a bad quality WinMo OEM device maker.

has anyone experienced as many problems with this company as i have? i have honestly noever heard about so many complaints on an entire series of devices than htc. you'd swear to think the american's designed these garbage devices. if it wasn't for android, htc would probably be the most garbage phone producing company on the market.

Ness, 15 Sep 2010Well Everyone, This Is a DREAM Phone, Hate it or Love it!
... morethere is nothing revolutionary in HD Desire, despite the SIZE LMFAO
I agree with someone who wrote that bigger does not mean better. I wonder why they pump up RAM and CPU so much ... Quick performance has more to do with correct adjustment and configuration than CPU ... What I mean is that Smartphones do not need 1GHz CPU or more to work fast it is optimization that counts ...

Whats wrong with some of you? It seems like some of you want a phone that launches rockets and makes Hollywood films, with a speed faster than a speeding bullet. Get real.
Anyway, for those of you who are interested, here's a link for the specs for this phone.
http://www.htc.com/www/product/desirehd/specification.html
I own an iPhone 3GS but am seriously thinking of going to this phone. Wow is the only way to describe it.
