Nokia N8 won't be late to the party, ships on 30 September

21 September, 2010
If you've already placed your Nokia N8 order, there is a chance you’ve heard today that it is going to be delayed a bit. Nokia just issues a statement denying its flagship needs any further tinkering, all pre-orders should...

Nokia are really showing that they are really bothered about the N8 an do want to get themselves a bad name after the N97,we do not know if its delayed this time because of the big surge to buying the N8 an not produced enough to meet the demands, hope we do get a week early still in the u.k like they are saying,as i have pre-orded mine an hope to have it by next week if possible, but i wonder if it depends on what colour you have orded as the Blue was to be delayed more than the other colours

[deleted post]For those who can't afford to buy new phones, Nokia supported them unlike other companies with their support which is never found in existence and they kicked hard their customers in their butts. what a pity

But as I said, the problems I had were with the OS (remember "Active diverts" who could disconnect an incoming call and the strange xml files in the gallery with a nokia developer mentioned as author?) However, on the net you can find an improved ROM for the Omnia HD. Moreover, nobody provides support for smartphones older than a year or two.

Doesn't exists better photography camera phone than N8 or if exists it is one, in the best of chances, maybe. Better camera phones, only of those in Japan or South Korea, maybe.

I had the Samsung omnia HD the didn't update nor support the software
              it's not Nokia's mistake
the n97 had many updates for S60 5V but the samsung didn't have any

Samsung just makes phones and don't follow up (update, accessories, website support... etc ) because they make so many kinds of phone

              no more Samsung for me

I think you might need to go into more detail on the Nokia N8. The camera uses a Carl Zeiss and a larger than standard sensor. This should lead to a much better picture quality than any other smartphone on the market and probably than many cheaper cameras.

The screen can obviously not display HD video but the HDMI port certainly can!

The problem with the phone was the OS (Symbian) so there was Nokia's fault. The i8910 is very similar or better in hardware than the iPhone 3GS (same proc, Samsung had a better screen, camera, etc) but the software on top made the real difference.

Allow me to disagree. N8 does not have anything since is not on the market yet:). FYI, Galaxy S has front camera for video calls, the 5MPix camera is OK for a smartphone, and let me tell you a secret:
It does not matter how many pixels a camera has, if the lenses do not match the resolution. See on the Samsung Omnia HD review, what I'm talking about. You can have 12 MPix sensor on a smartphone, but the quality will be worse than the quality of a 8/10 MPix dedicated camera.
About HD video: N8 screen just does not have the resolution required to play it. Dolby on a smartphone? Well OK, but you must be a bat to notice the difference from other good quality sound phones.

And the Nokia doesn't go to have the Antenna problem like the Iphone 4. Nokia in these aspects rarely or never fails.

At least with Nokia, you know you'll get support and updates to see a truly finished a fully functioning product at the end. I've had a lot of Nokias, and I've had a lot of problems with them, but Nokia has always come through in the end and delivered on their promises. Samsung makes great phones, but they release them and they abandon them. I've had a couple Samsungs over the years, my most recent being the i8910, and while it was decent at first it was abysmal over time and Samsung never came through on their promises to fix and make the phone better. I won't waste my money on them ever again.

Well, Nokia does not behave like a TOP level company (because they are not any more). All of their Symbian ^3 phones are still "expected", in fact delayed. The current phones are slow, buggy, and badly build(I speak from my experience with Nokia X6 16GB). I do not see any reason why anyone will chose Nokia over a (tested) top Android phone (Galaxy S, HTC Desire) now on the market, or on their way (Desire HD).

The Nokia N8 have technologies that the majority of the androids phones, even the latest ones don't have. Nor HD video with Dolby Digital Plus sound, Carl Zeiss lens, internet radio, and nor camera for video calls. Moreover has one Gpu more powerfull than the majority of the phone except the Desire HD or the Samsung Galaxy S. Even the Iphone 4 has a Gpu mor weak.
