Nokia N8 won't be late to the party, ships on 30 September

21 September, 2010
If you've already placed your Nokia N8 order, there is a chance you’ve heard today that it is going to be delayed a bit. Nokia just issues a statement denying its flagship needs any further tinkering, all pre-orders should...

steve jobs, 21 Sep 2010nokia? wat is nokia? sounds like something from the 1990s. While I don't agree with many processes at Nokia (see my previous post), it is foolish to say that Nokia is "90ies".

The N8 is obviously a great piece of hardware that can replace a dedicated digicam in most cases.
If it only had a higher screen resolution (at least the android-typical 854x480) I would be the first to (pre-)order it. However, whoever of the decision makers over at Nokia was responsible for the decision to use the nHD resolution (640x) deserves to get flogged as this has really decapitated such a wonderful device.

What do you mean "won't be late"? Had they launched the N8 last year, it still would've been late!

Nokia....well I'm lost for words! I used to be a great fan, however....I've been waiting AGES for your release and have since lost my patience with the N8 release and since brought an Iphone 4! I like the Iphone 4 and I'm NOT suggesting one bit that the Iphone is better than the N8 BUT like others I know have also moved on to others like HTC and Samsung! See the point is....you suggest a release date...then this gets moved forward, then delayed again....then you release further dates down the line and again!!!! Make up your mind!!!! I know Nokia aren't bothered losing a few sales but once people change different manufactures, they tend to upgrade to the same and I know MANY people that have ditched Nokia now!

Well, I can imagine what is going on with these contradictory statements: Nokia did some extensive alpha and beta testing and found some (minor) flaws. Just think of the N97! So, Nokia decided to do som final "polishing" and work on the "amends" in order to NOT repeat the N97 scandal, where actually nothing did work as it should work in a final release version of a product.

So far, so good. However, the withdrawal of the press release could either indicate that they solved their firmware polishments much mearlier than expected, or that they simply decided to skip the final quality measures and just release the phone as it is: with all of its little bugs and issues, having in mind to simply offer an OTA firmware update quickly after official release.

If the latter should turn out to be true, it would be a punch into the face of all Nokia customers, because people want a mature and flawless oeprating product and not a beta version that will get full function only after one or several firmware updates. Not to mention that depending on your provider, you might wait for firmware updates forever. The last FW update that I could get for my Nokia Xpress 5800 is v20. And Nokia have released v50 in the meantime!!!

I will have an eye on this case, Nokia, and if it turns out that I suspect that might be the case, you will lose a customer for quite a long time.

[deleted post]Do you even know what are the rules?
              # No bashing - deliberately and repeatedly bashing the same brand
              # No trolling - deliberately antagonizing other brand/model users
Please stop your ignorant trolling. Posting this kind of message will only get you banned and more people will buy Nokia. No one want to buy a phone from a company that sent people to attack another phone company sneakily. Some of us actually want free offline lifetime navigation available almost worldwide. Some of us actually want choices for the phone colours. Some of us actually want the phone shell to be made of metal rather than plastic. Some of us would rather buy a phone with the largest camera sensor possible. Some of us would rather buy a phone with pentaband 3G, USB OTG, and HDMI port. If you're going to be so immature and childish, why don't you go somewhere else.

Just rang Nokia UK to check the status of my pre-order. From the confirmation email i received & the date on the website i should've been expecting my N8 next monday (27th sept) but after speaking to Nokia they've now said to disregard that date as it will be the end of October!!! WTF?!?!

GSMArena, yes you are the only ones (or at least the only rational ones) who find the statements distrubing. Even if it is delayed, so what, as long as the phone delivers, I couldn't give two s^its...

This phone spend already a ton of money for marketing and it is not available yet. I would suggest to marketing management at NOKIA to leave the business and go farming. Guys go and grow potato or whatever is profitable in Finland and leave the hi-tech business, it is not for you! The more you talk about it the more it stinks. People are fed up with your useless games.
