Hey, give the samsung update guy a break he's probably gone on holiday or had a cold or something. October seems fine to me, I mean lets be honest he's only got 1 arm, so it's bound to take him a little longer!

Samsung support does indeed suck!!!!!!

Disappointed with Samsung services. Regret to get this phone, as i found it is slower compare to Desire...

Keep on delayed on firmware update! Is it the right way of running a business?

5ushi, 22 Sep 2010The screens today are LCDs. They are (or were) moving onto ... moreI work on Froyo webkit side, and its very buggy compared to prev android versions. 1st blame should go to Google, and next to other OEMs if they are releasing froyo devices with out proper testing and fixing. So, if some one is making it stable and adding features, back off and let them. Google failed this time

I anticipated that it would actually take alot longer for samsung to bring out its update. This is because the hummingbird processor is not configured for a JIT compiler which froyo uses. This is why there hasn't been any real benchmarks for the Galay on froyo and why people say that there isnt much of a speed difference with the initial update releases. Samsung are probably working with the update from the foundation upwards, where as other manufacturers just had to add their own little tweaks to the UI.

Its official (somewhat). There're multiple tweets from Samsung India telling its followers that Froyo for the Galaxy S will be coming "end of next month". Comparing the speed with which the Desire got its update, i'm seriously buying a Desire now instead of the GalaxyS. I can't imagine how long samsung will take when Gingerbread comes along next year!!

5ushi, 22 Sep 2010The screens today are LCDs. They are (or were) moving onto ... moreI disagree with you about the screen. What will drive the use of a product by manufacturers is its success. Others will see the success of the Super Amoled screen and look to replicate it by using it in their phones. What makes it different is its noticable brightness and contrast difference. Iphones retina display is good but when you hold it next to the old iphone, theres not much of a difference and hense the user is less likely to care. When the screen becomes an actual selling feature manufacturers will use and keep using it, until something more noticeable is out.

I do afree with you, why on earth are we hearingit through a facebook post in spain. Samsung need to get a proper statement out. I dont mind waiting, as long as its for a good reason, i.e fixing bugs and perfecting it. No point getting an uncompleted update.

And this in one reason you should never buy a samsung phone, & also no LED Notification. They seen to think that putting a AMOLED or Super AMOLED on a phone is all they need to do to sell phones. But after service is just as important.

The screens today are LCDs. They are (or were) moving onto LEDs when 3D LEDs came along. The market will skip OLEDs looking at how LED hasn't even managed to take off too well. I'd be prepared to wager flexible screens within the next few years (heck, I've done engineering reports on flexible tech and it is feasible within the next half decade).

Getting back on topic; I can understand update delays when the company is fixing issues here and there not initially anticipated. What I am not too forgiving about is when a company delays with an explanation, then delays again until explanations start sounding like excuses (we all know of certain manufacturers with such tactics). Let's hope Samsung sticks to their word.

To be honest, I don't mind waiting. Eclair is still am excellent os, so still very excited about froyo. So I dont mind waiting an extra month, better than them releasing it and finding out that the antenna doesn't work.

Also if you think about it how many phones are there that even get firmware upgrades at all? My satio got one and made no reall diff. All my other phones ever changed after I got thrm and the majoritu of yours never did eitjet.

So be patient, cause a new os is a great a great way to renew your phone, as lpng as they get it right.

The lag was caused by the Daily Briefing widget. A simple remove action solved the problem. Also you need the Advanced Task Killer(free from android market) for ANY Android 2.1 running phone. The problem with GPS:
I think a software update was released for the phones affected (not mine:). If you knew all that, now you would have had one of the best phones there is (only Desire is comparable).
