How will the Galaxy S8 + Gear VR coexist with the dedicated Odyssey headset?

I rather prefer a 8k display with 120fps that would be perfect for gaming and VR.

This can be only achieved when high density super fast storage will become cheap.

Untill then ,no gaming and VR.

LLL, 26 Jul 2016Rather buy separate devices for smartphone and VR.But it's pretty good to have VR if you buy an expensive phone and don't wont buy an separate VR. More future for the money.

Samsung might make the S8 models there First Flexible Screen phones as they keep promising these types of phones,so the S8 might be a phone and tablet All in One,just think the S8 will be 5" screen that then flips open to double the screen as a 10" Tablet this would be Amazing to have in your pockets,so we might not get the S8 Edge next year,If Samsung can do this it would become very popular indeed reguarding the prices of these types of Phone/Tablets

and a new window opens for samsung, a chance to be one of the first to have dual GPUs in a cellphone think of two adreno 530s in SLI/crossfire config. only trick is knowing when to activate this dual opp mode especially at thier level of power draw cos they will need a moster of a power pack and to be forged at 10nm or smaller to increase efficiency. come to think of it this is kinda easy to implement, as long as the engineers dont forget to slap in liquid cooling in the mix cos hey the heat will be an issue with two GPUs pumping frames at these resolution. i can go on and on about how the set up could be like for an enjoyable experience for the users let me cap it by saying, hey this is just my opinion.

Being able to connect to a PC would make sense. Right now there is VRidge, but it doesn't work that well.

You can use vr for anythings. Gaming, medical simulations, etc. Have you ever tried vr before?

See.. how samsung do things better than sony.
Z5 was the first phone in the world which is equipped with 4k screen. But sony did not make it ready for vr. So sad.. even the latest flagship doesnt equipped with 4k screen anymore, and no sign of the future 4k screen devices too.

And then.. samsung "will" finally bring their 4k phone, the s8. It is still not produced yet. But now samsung already starts their marketing campaign. They even say the future s8 will focus on vr.

It's not that we go to bed with that helmet on, do we?

These ultra hi-res screens are completely overkill. They siphon too much energy and decreases frame-rates way too much. Just look at the current flagship devices today. With on-screen frame-rates of sometimes just a little over 5fps. That is pathetic. I demand 30fps per absolute minimum in 2016 under any circumstance. I doubt that Samsung can whizz a GPU that has BOTH a higher resolution AND higher frame-rate as well. The best progress we currently have is a low 30% performance increase at GPU-level with each generation (while pixel density increased +70% in that same generation and battery capacity increased with a meager 10% or even decreased).

I don't need to be a genius to understand that playing games at 5fps in VR WILL cause nausea and headache!

Oboy. If only no one gets nausea from use.
