The Mi Notebook Air is a MacBook competitor that won't leave you wanting

27 July, 2016
Xiaomi really put together a strong event today. Frankly, we would have been more than content with the now official Xiaomi Redmi Pro, but the Chinese OEM threw another surprise our way - the Mi Notebook Air.

Xiaomi has no honor when it comes to unscrupulous copying of Apple products. Mi Air is just another blatant step. Recall its Xiaomi MiPads - which look 99% like iPads, are called like ones, come in the same sizes (9.7 and 7.9 inches) and same aspect ratios and everything! Such products must not exist, it's just irresponsible from Chinese regulators to allow them to be sold

Although fantastic products maybe and great pricing, agreed, but honestly I'm a bit on the disappointed side....

That is because I was believing rumors about the product being gamer favorable.
I saw some sites and they mentioned some Core i7 6700U or something, with 16 GB DDR4 RAM and with Nvidia 970 GPU with 4GB, etc... A true flagship.
And for that kind of setup, believe me, you would have my cash on the table, even if it was $1200, and even if it was heavy, thick and battery life not that good.
Because, I was born a gamer, a sportsman. A respectable gamer who doesn't use cheat codes or piracy. Who definitely wins. By effort, inspiration and the right hardware. Its my religion!

But then again, I'm just one customer and Mi has to appeal to a wide variety of users.... A bit too wide...
But again, I'm not blaming the product. It must be great.... for its target users, that is.

AnonD-19153, 27 Jul 2016Question Why they don't come up with high end I7 Quad core... moreOh dude, come on, u can think about their reason for not to do that if u try...

Look, this is ultrabook, intended for people who prefers portability & mobility BUT, at the cost of mediocre cooling solution, as for making ultrabook, u have to reduce as much as possible the weight as well as the thickness that is present in usual gaming laptop.

High-end core i7 IS NOT FOR GAMERS, but for people that needs power to do their job, such as video editor, music director, graphic designer, and many more. MOREOVER, for HIGH-END cpu, in favor for better processing power, u need more power in the process, WHICH MEANS shorter battery life, WHICH MEANS a bad move and no-go for ultrabook who favor mobility which requirement is to have LONG-LASTED battery.
The same logic also applies to the GPU choices, BETTER GPU intended for gaming is POWER-HUNGRY, therefore a no-go for ultrabook.
BTW, 16GB RAM options is possible IF THERE IS room left for adding 1 more slot, which is 50:50 in this case, as this baby is too thin.

As for great price for the laptop, it is possible, after all this is CHINESE manufacturer we are talking about. BUT, I believed gamers will not even consider buying this one as Xiaomi is still NEW in laptop manufacturing, no way they are going to hand over their money to a company with no track record in laptop industry, especially the gaming one.

Hope now u understand that ur question is something that u can come up with answer by urself if u try...

AnonD-19153, 27 Jul 2016Question Why they don't come up with high end I7 Quad core... moreDear brother, I'm pretty sure GTX 980m wont fit in there, or we need an extra room for cooling system and air flow so it will be bulky we can't longer call it Ultrabook.

Look, what is the main reason for Xiaomi to sell their notebook & for people to buy it? The specs? The brand? NOOO, it is the lightweight of an ultrabook that makes people look at this baby.
Albeit its lightweight mass, it packs power comparable to AIRBOOK, even to ur claimed BETTER SPECS GAMING LAPTOP that cost US$600, but MUCH HEAVIER, MUCH BULKIER, and SHORT-LIVED BATTERY.

TRUE, this baby might pricier than ur usual gaming laptop, but THIS IS NOT PURE GAMING LAPTOP, as for gaming laptop u need to have solid GPU as well as solid colling solution. This is intended for someone who wants a MacBook Air, but cannot afford the price tag, who wants an ultrabook that packs power to play game but have limited money, and who wants a powerful laptop with gaming specs but refuse to buy the BULKY, HEAVY, and PRICEY gaming laptop.
As usual, think about the content of ur opinion before comment on something, TROLL. U r just embarrasing urself saying crap like that...
