Ultrabook is a combination of netbook (slow performance but highly portable & highly battery-eficient computer) and notebook (decent to high performance, but bulky, heavy, and power-hungry computer). The idea comes from INTEL to create a new kind of portable computer with decent to high in performance, but energy-efficient like netbook.

U said Ultrabook is 'small' & flimsy'? Oh come on, do I need to repeat myself OVER and OVER? Ultrabook main selling points are PORTABILITY & MOBIILITY. To get both those, u need some requirements, such as a LONG-LASTING BATTERY, LIGHT-WEIGHT, THIN, and STURDY. If the computer is not sturdy enough, U WON'T BOTHER CARRYING IT WITH U WHEREEVER U GO AS IT WILL BREAK.
Here is difference of main material used for Ultrabook & standard laptop chassis:
Ultrabook: Combination of Aluminium & Magnesium alloy, even some with Kevlar dupont gimmicks.
Notebook: HARD PLASTICS, or combination of Aluminium & hard plastics.

LOLOLOLOLOLOL, what a DUMB statement. I use Acer Aspire E1-470G & Asus A450, both is SLIM ENOUGH when u compare it with 2012 laptop, BUT both of them cannot be called ULTRABOOKS, as it is power-hungry, quite thick, and HEAVY, as well as not durable, as its chassis mostly HARD PLASTICS.
Please, don't make urself like a fool, computer-illiterate TROLL when u do not even know that ULTRABOOK is DIFFERENT from NOTEBOOK

Moreover, Drone which can sustain 2 people riding in it will be phenomenal invention of 2016, as at the moment drone can only sustain 1 seat

Powerful laptops can be quite expensive compared to their desktop counterparts, which are more powerful. Do note that editing RAW files needs decent computing power.

Q for the geeks:
So I'm in the market for a performance laptop.
I'm a photographer & will mostly be using Photoshop & Lightroom extensively.
I'm from Mumbai but I usually buy all my gear from B&H or any of the major US sites and have it shipped to a friend/relative who is about to visit India as the items are far cheaper & there's a greater variety to choose from.
What would you folks suggest?

I have delayed my own performance laptop purchase in anticipation of this, while this product disappoints due to the lack of 16GB RAM option, I can see the direction they're headed in and it seems bright.

"as the laptop is not user-servicable"...... This kills the Notebook. For 750$ you can buy a used business mint condition T440 which is more powerful, lasts longer and is user-serviceable. And this is the chinese price, EU/NA customers can expect prices up to 1000 since the resellers want to make profit.
With the new MTK only Redmi and this useless MacBook clone Xiaomi will go to shit.

Even if they copy Apple iPad & MacBook design, they compete in different area. Apple with their EXCLUSIVE iOS & Macintosh OS, Xiaomi with their Android-custom MIUI & Linux OS. Moreover, albeit the similar looks, things powered the gadget is completely different. Even ur esteemed Apple is the same thief as Xiaomi. They stole from Nokia, Motorola, Android, and many more. So, U can't just say they are INNOCENT, when u do not know what they actually do BEHIND THE SCENE.

i just bought Lenovo Ideapad 510s with i5 6200U, FHD IPS 14", Radeon m330, Win10 and 4GB of RAM and 1TB of HDD for $684 (9mil rupiah) in Indonesia. All inside an ultrabook build with metal/plastic build. Yes it's admittedly not SSD and standard RAM but with all consideration (including Lenovo's added Software Framework to handle battery charging) and 2 year all risk guarantee, it's much more assuring rather than wait for this book IMHO. Plus i have upgraded the RAM to 8GB and the installation is pretty much user servicable with some small screwdriver.

LOOK, DUDE. I have been studying and reading about smartphone world as well as computer world since 10 years ago. Given that time, I think I am computer-literate enough than Android-literate cuz computer hardware world is not as complex as smartphone, in this case Android. In computer, u need only the basic things to understand how it works, and what I said before about 'cooling solution', 'power-hungry CPU & GPU', and 'ultrabook' are some of the basic things in computer world.
The logic is, THIN means u need to compensate, what u compensate is cooling solution & high specs, while u get portability & mobility which is today's trend in mobile computer world.
FYI, what do my nationality have to do with my comments and answer? I'm an INDONESIAN and on top of that 100% pure bred.
Hell, where do u get that 'I'm ABUSING or BULLYING people' trash, huh? What line do I said in my comment that makes me look like that, TROLL...
