this shows a really bad trait by the company. sony ericson known for continiously supporting there products will still have the support but samsung sounds so bitter with there decision..

X6, 01 Oct 2010R.I.P. Symbian. I understand the frustration of SE and Samm... morei dont get why you think nokia stabbed them in the back. Ovi is what differentiates nokia from other manufacturers. Sammy and se should have worked on their symbian support better

what most people here dont realize is that samsung never had that much support for symbian anyways. Sure they released phones with great hardware (i8910) but they dropped support for it (i8910) even at its peak

R.I.P. Symbian. I understand the frustration of SE and Sammy, their Symbian phones had no access to Ovi market and Nokia stabbed them in the back by giving free navigation exclusively to their phones. Anyway, Symbian sucks compared with Android and iOS. A Nokia X6 user.

and why they don't make a 'unified' OS for all smart phones? it will get all the attention and the support from everywhere, apps would be in thousands
better than toying with symbian, ios, android, bada etc... confusing customers, generating fanboys and making situation worse

Looks like everyone are saying: Nokia you want Symbian? It's yours! Wer'e just stay with the droids. And Samsung have BADA, which is their own OS, which is better than Symbian, even Symbain-3 in several respects.

u cant blame them. its symbian fault that could not keep up with the techno trends. with galaxy 5 as a new line up for cheap smartphone they probably want to change symbian phone with affordable android, and its not a wrong move. if samsung drop symbian, that nokia have their own sin too droped maemo OS,how do u think the future of N900 users?
its a gud thing if they decide to keep focus on bada, android and wp7.
its a gud thing too for nokia to mature the symbian os to be ready for touch UI, samsung and SE move will make them wake up from the sweet dream.
btw its only phone OS and not religion so pls dont fight on each other. i used nokia se samsung htc iphone and hate none of them, just love tech and gadget and enjoy using their phone.

Finally Samsung and Sony Ericsson have realised the mistake they had made...hopefully they will now stick to their own OS, or even better, support Android...I really did not see the benefit of them using an OS made by a competitor...

Samsung is not becoming BADA fanatic but they will support their OS and put a lot of resources in BADA development. Problem with Symbian it is not capable to compete with other OS competition. Putting Symbian OS on any smart phone today is is almost suicidal move. Symbian applications are hard to find and Symbian OS versions are many and they are confusing. S60 V5 S60V3 etc. One of the reasons why Nokia is losing share is Symbian.

All I can say is that omnia hd was the best symbian phone I had. And I had them all. Samsung support is anyway the worst in the business so no big loss. Now I am even happier I sold my Galaxy S and went for HTC.

Although i'm a samsung fan but this is really very unexpected and little cruelty. Maybe they did this to concentrete their new Bada OS. But at least they should have continue their old symbian's support. They will no longer make any symbian device and i really appreciate it cause they are already working with three different OSs. But taking steps to remove everything related symbian from their history is nothing but aggressiveness.

all right, this sucks and i understand most of you who have bought symbian phones in the past, at a time where symbian was the OS with most apps android was unborn or still very new on the market, but this move that samsung announced, was well known since they announced their own OS, announced it, not release it! it pretty clear that they won't invest the same in symnbian (for which they must pay nokia to use it in their phones) and their home-made OS bada.
The thing that most of you complain about is simple:
nokia sells a product (faulty, buggy) to samsung.
samsung puts that in their phones.
phones have issues.
nokia updates the bugs in the OS, but only for their phones
samsung is uncapable to do that for various reasons: more money spent, os coding is a pain in the ..., etc
And rest assured that their os bada will eventually have more market share that android, win7. i strictly reffer to samsung phones.
It sucks, but a wise buyer see past these things and goes for stuff that will be at samsung's interest and will be developed in the future (bada). In android's case, google does most of the hard work.
I have a wave, and it receives firmware updates every month... and we're talking about the same company here...

This is because of Nokia's arrogant behavior, Nokia are the real bastards, even Nokia offers no support for their S60 phones.
I had an E52 with HUGE soft problems no solutions from Nokia only Symbian^3 marketing bullshit.
I am sure SE and Samsung dropped Symbian because Nokia allways wants to be no.1 and keeps Symbian^3 for itself.
Symbian will die anyway just like PalmOS and the N8 will be the last try until they fade away. Just compare Galaxy S, Desire HD or iPhone 4 with the N8... N8 is so yesterday, go ahead buy it be sorry and ashamed when you see ppl with REAL smartphones.
