Symbian is dead. Noones talking about it either.
There are three big players - iOs, Android and Windows Mobile. Additionally I predict that Windows Mobile will disappear long-ranged as well.

SAMSUNG sucks! seriously. I bought i8910 HD six months back and from that day, I've been facing problem, as I was having problems with firmware, they released a new firmware year after they released the i8910. and now by stating that they will close everything relating symbian OS, it really has disappointed me and I'm never ever going to purchase any of samsung's shit.

[deleted post]I know it's for Symbian but Samsung always drops support of their devices too early for example: Omnia HD, Jet, etc.... . And my point was to sell my Galaxy S and get a more future supported device and never buy another Samsung product again because how they leave their customers behind.

I will drop my Samsung wave due to the lake of support and continuous lies about what this phone does which in fact doesn. Is only on paper.Further more. . . not to speak about banning all voip applications, which every OS platform has it. Bada is not an OS!WAKE UP!

I think is too much to focus... too many os... maybe they want Bada to replace Symbian phones in the future.
SE... haha too danger man. They only left Android. Until now we didnt hear any news regarding WP7 running on SE phone. Unless they also have the same idea as Samsung..having their own OS lol...

BrianAW, 02 Oct 2010You gotto know between Symbian and symbian UIQ..thats not s... moreyou just said it yourself that they're both symbian so don't correct me
in 1998 Ericsson made 1st touchscreen smartphone which was also 1st symbian phone
so basically everybody follows SE's and Ericsson's trend of touchscreen smartphones
and UIQ is almost same as Symbian as with crack (no need for flashing) UIQ phones can play all S60 games

Now they can focus on Bada, Android and WM7 to take out NOKIA and APPLE at same time.

Alessandro, 02 Oct 2010Just another reason not to get a Samsung phone.Exactly my thoughts. Samsung has absolutely horrible support for their products. They don't release things into the market as much as just dump them there and hope for the best. After the i8910, I am really put off from ever buying another Samsung device. I may try my luck with the Tab, but if they drop support on that or leave it in a half-working state then Samsung is history in my book.

I knew this was coming. But They should've waited at least a year before announcing this.

This is a bad news for Nokia I think. As Samsung officially dumped Symbian and Sony Ericsson is also less interested in it. If all leave then Nokia only will be member of the Symbian foundation and that means less developers will be interested. Samsung still has no problem as they have got successful Android phones and recently licensed WP7, Sony Ericsson be careful as they are going Motorola way!

This is the beginning of an end for Symbian. All those i400, i450, i550, i560, L870, G810, i8510 INNOV8, and i8910 OMNIA HD users will be very disappointed. They probably won't buy a Samsung/Symbian product again. After Nokia ruined (and is still ruining) Symbian OS, and Sony Ericsson left the party, the last thing we need is THIS.
