Mkdc, 03 Aug 2016Alright grey1213 (linas, you can help too), time for you to... moreI said that USB type c is great as a standard, but it isn't necessarily a bad thing for a phone to not have it in 2016 when pretty much the only thing that uses type c is going to be your phone, and micro USB is still dominant. I maintain that stance.
I was disappointed that it uses the same processor, but I was disappointed when I thought it was using sd821. Because the improvements are extremely marginal anyway, its not like previous years when there was a big difference. The real gains come from the beginning of the product cycle, in the first half of the year.
So while I continue to say the exact same thing, you can continue trying to put your Samsung hate spin on everything. :-)

How do you explain samsung using the same processors (and rams) asthe older s7 despite note always getting an upgrade every year, previously? Now that samsung adopted usb type c, what do you have to say? Only 4 months ago, you defended samsung against the onslaught of people laughing at the s7 still having the micro usb when all other android flagships already adopted usb type c, using arguments that micro usb is readily available, standard is micro usb, accessories are all micro usb compatible, and other stuffs.

Watch them release another 16GB entry level model, or if you're lucky 32 but I doubt it because that's not part of their underhanded pricing scheme.

A very competetive and an adequated price at 64 GB built-in memory, with s-pen, memory card-slot, nice SAmoled screen, and Samsung brand.

[deleted post]Well, Moto uses pure Android with few modifications, TouchWiz is heavily modificated and there's KNOX etc so it's normal that it takes a few months longer to develop.

However, as an honest Samsung fan I would say, that this, is not a worthy upgrade. NOT AT ALL!, especially if you currently own a Galaxy S7-edge, or even a note 5 on that matter... Iris scanner is just an additional layer of security that can easily, and simply be
ignored at this very moment, if your only main concern really, is security. And HDR content these days,
is still on its infancy and developmental stage; and something, that you really cannot use, right out-of-the-box.
I simply am quite disappointed in this release of the note, having only small iterations...,
just akin to the iPhones. if they have just opted to put on either the SD821 or the Exynos 8893 on-board;
coupled with 6GB of DDR4; perhaps, UFS 3.0 if it is already be available; a very loud and great sounding stereo speakers just like the Idle 4S; and a 4000mAh battery, regardless of the UFS1.0 storage technology; this, could have been a very worthy upgrade! Not unless of course; you have all the moneys of the world to procure, or; you currently don't own a smartphone, and want to buy one.
But again to reiterate my point; as a big, if not one of the biggest Samsung fan allover the world, if you really want to upgrade just and only just, for the sake of having the latest and the greatest all-the-time, then, upgrade! But, if what you want is to feel the utmost worthiness of the upgrade, and to possibly experience the very best upgrade of your techie-life, wait for the Galaxy S8.
I fervently hope, that Samsung would be able to read this heartfelt comment of mine…, because I deeply, and sincerely love this company. I really do… from their very humble beginnings, and to their utmost evolvement up to this very day, where they are now… this truly is a concern, and not criticism.

AnonD-237381, 03 Aug 2016You were talking about ASUS, they update record is sh*ttier... moreI accept your point about ASUS track record. Although funnily enough their latest phones have been seen running Noughart already. Not that that proves anything granted. I bet the Note 7 won't see it this year though. Then again I never realistically expected it to arrive with it either. My point is that they have a shoddy attitude to software and now it seems hardware too. The LG G4 and many other phones all got updates to Marshmallow ages before the Note 4 or 5. If they're not bothered about getting them, their flagships to the latest software, of which improved battery life was a major factor, then it stands to reason they really probably don't care to much about the latest hardware either. And that I suspect is the real reason this does not carry the latest CPU's.

AnonD-196068, 03 Aug 2016The point as I see it and feel free to disagree is that is ... moreYou were talking about ASUS, they update record is sh*ttier than SAMSUNG's who is improving in that area of updates, the Galaxy S5 and S6 are up-to-date, the mid-rangers Galaxy A5 and A7 both 2015 and 2016 versions are up-to-date, the Galaxy J7 is getting Marshmallow too...
And I don't bother getting updates that will render my phone slow and buggy, look at Moto G2 and G3 on Marshmallow, they freeze A LOT, and getting a Samsung phone I have plenty of dev support, lots of updated ROMs to choose!

And the delay will be just one month, the new Zenfone 3 line was announced back in May, and it isn't available yet, they're doing the same thing as SONY.
