Sony have no plain for symbian but even Satio was very expensive. Maybe you can buy but many won't buy it. Look at best selling phones have 5MP only Droid or Milestone, Desire, Galaxy s even with no flash.
Companies make phone for everybody for a good profit that why a device like x10 with a lot of missing featurings, old OS 1.6 and having 8MP failled to sell better than Droid with have 5MP. So you don't know?

N8 still have better sensor ( 1/1.83 )
Bigger than this 1/2.8 or 1/3.2 sensors

ALTEK LEO has CCD sensor with a double processor image Sunny 9 and 3X opctical zoom.
You can get amazing pictures with it !!!!!

As several people have correctly pointed out, you only need large pixel counts for large prints A3 upwards.
It's all very well having a sensor that can take pictures with 16MP, but the sensor is nothing without the optics in front of it, you need a good lens in front of the sensor to eliminate vignetting, CA's etc, you can't fit a decent lens to a camera phone, so there'll always be a need for DSLRs & SLRs.

Big, 07 Oct 201016mp is no problem for me but they should perfect it before... morestop that no sense you need a best picture buy a professional camera OKAY this are phone 3MP for low end phone, 5MP or 8MP for middle end phone and 8MP or 12MP for high end phone.
16MP is to much just buy a proper camera a professional that all. This is why SE have very expensives phone. Keep supporting a failling company you will be suprise again I see x10 is not enough you need some more failling phones to learn

When will they understand that it's N... moreAgree that sensor and lens matter. But using CCD sensor is not practical in mobile phones, bcoz of high power consumption .
Results show that even 10mp sensors produce better or comparably equal quality images to 12 or even 14mp sensors. There are many factors to be optimized such as image processing algorithm ..etc.
But first things first bigger sensor and better lens quality.

Agree that the OS is the heart of a smartphone though. But at least we're seeing technological advancements on different departments, other than processors and OS.

Even 3MP it cool with android 2.1 or 2.2 that perfect. Nokia 5800 does Video CD record MPG4 and with play Dvix if you install Dvix Player any Dvix Player applications but only 3MP. Only stup*d goes for MP
Why 16.4MP? Maybe to take pictures in the moon or plante Venus.
