"Best" depends on your criteria. The P9 has only average battery life, my number one criterion. For this reason I vote for the Xiaomi Mi 5 as the best phone of the year - lower price too and not as heavy. The P9 probably has a better camera, so again, it depends on your criteria. I don't take many photos.
