Samsung, here is what you should do,
1) Dump FROYO,
2) Dump your useless RFS file system. I know you are trying hard to correct is and don't want to abandon it, but then why are your trying to reinvent the wheel. It may work on your BADA os and make you rich but what your are foregoing is the millions you can make on android (android is free after all).
3) Start working on gingerbread (get it out before the end of this year and redeem yourself).

thefearfulsilence, 19 Oct 2010Can anyone help with my kies problem. Initially I couldn't... moreHi,

Once the. net framework is installed do not install/uninstall it back again. On windows xp kies you also need to windows media player components for kies to work well. Look for those in a separate disc you might have received along with the box. If I say step-wise, uninstall any previous installation of kies(completely), run ccleaner to wipe any clutter left behind(this step may be skipped if you dont know how to use ccleaner), either with the files or the registry entries, install. net framework(leave it if its already there), install the media component, install latest kies (yes, the latest) from the link given in here few posts or back or look for the same with the samsung download pages. It should be version 1.5.3 I think. Kies should run fine afterwards. If you still have problems with kies, odin is always a safe bet to have successful flash.

                  Hope that helps!

Can anyone help with my kies problem.
Initially I couldn't get Kies to start. My pc recognised the phone,(GT i9000) but whenever i opened Kies I got the message "mainstage has encountered a problem and needs to close". At which point Kies would just shut down before it even opened.
I reinstalled dot net framework version 3.5 and version 4, and I don't know how it fixed it but I got Kies running.
Anyway just after it was announced that Froyo was now available, Kies said it needed to update itself to the latest version. Now I am back to square one with the aforementioned "mainstage has encountered a problem..." error message but now I cant get Kies to start again even though i reinstalled dot net framework again. I need kies to
work so i can get froyo. Can anyone help.j
Btw my pc is Windows xp with sp3 and all the lateat updates installed.
                      Thanks

lets have an end to this story "my kies dont recognize my galaxy s".Well me neither with the older verrsion of kies.So here is what you have to do...download the last version of kies.i think september 2010.
                        install it on your pc.
connect your phone via usb.(check the option from your galaxy s to be "kies").after a few secconds windows recognize your phone as galaxy s.
then start your kies.the "samsung kies" program now will recognize automatically your galaxy s.dont start kies and then connect.you should first connect via usb wait for recognision from windows and then start kies.thats the secret.

If not because the idiotically small internal memory, then because in December Samsung will launch Tegra 2 smartphones (full HD 1080p recording, 12-16Mpix camera, 1.5GHz dual core processor). Who will want a Desire HD then?

Kind of disappointing, the performance is way lower than an HTC Desire with froyo 2.2, gfx performance is even lower than a SGS with Eclair. Samsung should hire some of the developers from XDA Forum, i bet they will do way better than this, and fast, their going to loose out on customers when Desire HD will be released, allot of customers.

I agree that Samsung is kinda shitty in what regards Kies and SGS Froyo update. But the hardware and the potential is the best at the moment. Just get the lagfix, and you have the best smartphone.
Apple is plain malicious in not allowing its customers to have Flash and freedom to get apps outside the app store. Have they allowed that, iPhone 4 would have had no competition. HTC just ruined a phone which could have been better than SGS(Desire HD) by not putting a more internal memory inside. Some Htc users say that they could not install too many apps, because every app, even those reisend on the SDcard, take some internal memory. The other manufacturers are not even worth to be mentioned.
